HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #551 ORDINANCE NO . 551 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNT INGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO . 535, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH CREATING VARIOUS CLASSES OF POSITIONS AND PROVIDING FOR THE RATE :. OF COMPENSATION OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS"OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH," AS AMENDED, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION THERETO . .The City. Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California , do. ordain as follows: Section 1: That a::new section be added to Ordinance No. 5351,. to be known as Section 14.1, the same to be inserted immediately after Section 14, and to read as follows: Section 14.1:- Retirement. Notwithstanding any other provision contained in this ordinance all officer's and employees of the City of Huntington Beach, other than elected officers, are hereby required to retire from service with the City of Huntington Beach upon reaching their 65th birthday. Provided, however, that this provision shall not become effective until the 1st day of ' ebraaU. 19501 at which time all such officers and employees who have reached their 65th birfthday prior to said date shall be retired. 1 Ord, 551 • Section 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of. this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published by one insertion in the Hunting— ton Beach News, a weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach, California, and thirty (30) days after the adoption hereof the same . shall take effect and be in force. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, this 17th day of October , 1949.
