HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #580 ORDINANCE NO. 580 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 535 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH CREATING VARIOUS CLASSES OF POSITIONS AND PROVIDING FOR THE RATE OF COMPENSATION OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES- IN CONFLICT THERE- WITH. rr The City Council of the City 'of Huntington Beach does ordain as follows: Section to That a new section is hereby added to Ordinance No. 535, the same to be inserted immediately after Section 11 and to be known as Section 11.1, the same to read as follows : Section 11.1: COMPENSATION FOR TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT . Persons employed in temporary positions shall be compensated at the hourly rate which is the equivalent of the minimum step of the salary range to which the particular class or position is allocated, except in cases where the City Council has determined that it is not possible to secure persons for such temporary employment at such hourly rate, and has authorized payment for such temporary employment of an hourly rate which is equivalent to one of the higher steps of the range to which the particular class is allocated' then at such hourly rate. Whenever a temporary position in a skilled trades- man class is to be filled, the City Council may authorize payment to the tempor.ary .employee of the prevailing wage in -1- Ord. 580 Orange County for such trade for a period not to. exceed working thirty (30) /days. Section 2: The City Clerk shall certify, to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News , a weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach, California ; and thirty days after the adoption thereof the same shall take effect and be in force.
