The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach,
California, do ordain as follows:
Section 1: Sections 1224.2, 12311 1232, 1233, 12349
12357 1251, 1252, 1253 , 1254, 1255, 1256, 1321, 1411, 14125
1413, 1414, 1415, 1416,\ 1431.27 1432, 1439.1, 1463.11 1465
and 1468 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 2: Section 1438 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby repealed and re-enacted as follows:
Section 1438 Public Relations Director: There is
hereby created the office of Public Relations Director. His
, salary shall be $50.00 per month, and he shall serve at the
pleasure of the City Council.
Section 3 : Section 1433.1 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1433.1 Allowances: In addition to his salary,

i the City Attorney shall receive an additional sum per month
for stenographic and clerical assistance as may be allowed by
the Council, and such additional fees or compensation as are
provided for in ,the City Charter.
Section 4: Section 1434.2 of the Huntington 'Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1434.2 Salaries: The Collector and his
deputies shall receive such salary and compensation as is
provided in this Division.
Section 5: Section 1436 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1436 Fire Department: The Fire Chief shall be
ex-officio Fire Marshal with police power. The Fire Chief may
appoint, by and with the consent of the Council, call firemen
who shall be subject to call by the Fire Chief for duty during
any emergency, fire, or fire drill.
Section 6: Section 1436.4 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1436.4 Services at Fire Station: For services
performed at the Fire Station, each man shall receive Five
Dollars ($5.00) per call, provided that the time actually
employed on such call does not exceed three hours .
Section 7: Section 1436.E of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1436...E Compensation for Fire Drill: For

services during any fire drill, each call fireman shall re-

Section 8: Section 1437 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:.
Section 1437 Life Guard: Chief Lifeguard: There is
hereby created a Lifeguard Department. The Chief Lifeguard
shall be head of the Department and shall serve at the pleasure
of the Council.
Section 9: Section 1437.1 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1437.1 Emergency Lifeguards: In the event of
any great emergency arising at such time that the service of
one or more additional lifeguards would be required and it is
not practicable to secure the approval of the Council, the
Chief Lifeguard, with the consent of the Mayor or any two
members of the Council, may employ not more than ten (10) life-
guards for service during said emergency, at the compensation
as provided for in this Division, provided, .however, such
emergency employment shall not exceed fifteen (15) days unless
authorized by the Council.
Section 10: Section 11+37.2 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1437.2 Examinations: No person shall serve as
a lifeguard who has not passed a qualified examination prepared
by 'the Chief Lifeguard.

Section 11: Section' 1469 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1469 Manager of Trailer Park: The manager of
the Trailer Park in the penal sum of $1,000.00.
Section 12: Section 1524 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows :
Section.",A524 Changing of Classes: The Council,
following suc '�'Iz nvestigation and recommendation, may, by

ordinance , create new classes , revise , combine , divide, or
abolish existing classes within the classification plan.
Section 13 : Section 1534 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1534 Reallocation by Ordinance: Subsequently,
whenever a new position is authorized and created or whenever
study and investigation disclose that any position is not
allocated to its proper class for any reason whatsoever,
whether through error in the original allocation, amendment
of the .classification plan, or change in the nature of a
position, the Council may b6\ ordinance allocate or reallocate
such position or positions in conformance with the specifica-
tions. of the classification plan.
Section 14: Section 1599 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1599 Trailer Park Manager: 24 29 34 ,

Section 7702 Salary of Trailer Park Manager: The salary
of the Trailer ,Park Manager shall be as established in Chapter

Section 1469.1 Clerk to Trailer Park Manager: The
Clerk to the Trailer Park Manager in the penal sum of $1,000.00.

read as follows:

Section 25: The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the
same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach
News, a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated in
the City of Huntington Beach, Orange County, California; and

thirty (30) days after the adoption hereof the same shall
take effect and be in force,

I, JOHN L. HENRICKSEN, the duly elected, qualified
and acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and
ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing
ordinance was first read to said City Council at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 6th day of April , 1953,
and was again read to said City Council at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 20th day of April , 1953 , and was
passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a
