HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #636 ORDINANCE No. 636 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RELATING TO THE PROMOTION OF EMPLOYEES AMEND- ING SECTION 1566 OF THE HUNTINGTON BEACH OR- DINANCE CODE The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain as follows: Section 1: That Ordinance No. 588, entitled "An Ordinance `of the City of Huntington Beach Adopting the Hunt- ington Beach Ordinance Code , adopting General Provisions pertaining to said Code , and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with said General Provisions"., adopted July 71 1952, is hereby amended by amending Section 1566. Section 1566. Increase To Minimum Salary. Exception. If the salary which the employee is receiving on the effec- tive date of the promotion is less than the minimum salary of the office or class of employment to which he is promoted., then he shall receive the minimum salary for the new class as of that date , except in the single instance where the Council by four-fifths vote, determines that it is tbethe public interest, and the qualification of education or exper- ience of the person proposed to be promoted justifies a be- ginning salary in excess of said minimum compensation, which beginning salary shall, in no case , extend beyond the third step in the appropriate compensation schedule. Section 2: The City Clerk shall. certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to Ordi. No. 636 be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach, Orange County, California; and thirty (30) days after the adoption thereof, the same shall take effect and be in force.
