AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH RELATING TO THE VACCINATION OF
DOGS AND AMENDING SECTION 4414 1 OF THE
HUNTINGTON BEACH ORDINANCE Wt.
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach,
California, do ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Section 4414.1 of the Huntington
Beach Ordinance Code be and the same is hereby amended to
read in words and figures, as follows:
Section 4414.1. Vaccination Required Before Licensing:
Exemptions. Neither the said Tax and License Collector nor
any other person shall issue any license for any dog over
the age of six (6) months, after the 6th day of February,
1956, unless and until such dog has been vaccinated as de-
fined in this Chapter and the owner or person seeking such
license shall produce for inspection a certificate from a
licensed veterinarian showing said dog to have been vaccina-
ted within the preceding twenty-four (24) months, which cer-
tifieate such issuing officer may accept as proof of vaccina-
tion; provided, however, . that any dog may be exempt from
vaccination and a license may be issued therefor without
proof of vaccination upon the presentation of an Affidavit
sworn to within sixty (60) days preceding the application for
license , by a veterinarian licensed by the State of Califor-
nia to practice and actually practicing as a veterinarian in

said State , stating that in his opinion the rabies vaccina-
tion would be likely to seriously injure the dog described _.
therein; and provided further, that no person shall allow
any dog so exempt from rabies vaccination at. any time , to
run at large and such dog musts. be .restricted to the securely
inclosed yard of the owner except when held upon a substan-
tial chain, leash, or rope .
Section 2. That', the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the
same' to be published by one insertion in the Huntington
Beach News, a weekly newspaper published, printed and cir-
culated in the City of Huntington Beach, Orange County,
' California, and thirty (30) days after the adoption thereof

the same shall take effect and be in force.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, this 25th day of March
1957.
