AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RELATING TO A `
RESERVE POLICE FORCE AND ADDING SECTIONS
1319, 1319.11 1319.27 1319.3,13T9.4 and
1319.5 TO THE HUNTINGTON BEACH ORDINANCE
CODE
• The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach,
California, do ordain as follows:
Section 1: There is hereby added to the Huntington
Beach Ordinance Code, Sections 1319, 1319.17 1319.29 1319.3,
1319.4 and 1319.5, to be in words and figures, as follows:
Section 1319. Reserve Police Force Established. There
is hereby established in the Police Department, a Reserve

Police Force. The reserve police force shall be a volunteer
organization composed of qualified members who shall be sub-
ject to all applicable regulations and orders that are is-
sued to the regular police officers of the department. The
members of the reserve force may be called to active duty
for the City of Huntington Beach at the discretion of the
• Chief of Police.
Section 1319.1. Eligibility. Members of said reserve
police force shall be between the ages of 21 yrs and 50 yrs. ;
residents of the City of Huntington Beach; shall 'be of good
character and shall have no physical disabilities.

Section 1319.2. Training. Before being appointed as a
member of the reserve police force, the recruit shall satis-
factorily pass such training requirements as may be prescrib-
ed by the council by resolution or by directive of the Chief
of Police. TherTecruit shall atall. times during said prob-
ationary period when called to duty be under the direct cont-
rol and supervision of a police officer.
Section 1319.3. Roster. The Chief of Police shall
notify the City Clerk upon the acceptance of an application
of a recruit for training in the reserve police force- and at
all times shall keep a roster of all recruits in active
training and under instruction.
Section 1319.4. Pay. No recruit shall be entitled to
any pay for service during the probationary period and no
reserve officer shall receive any pay for serving the requir-
ed minimum of four hours per duty week. The reserve officer
shall be entitled to pay when called to active duty over and
above said minimum hours per duty week or when he replaces
the services of a regular police officer. The pay of the
.,-reserve police officer -shall be on an hourly wage equal to
that of the beginning patrolman in the regular police de-
partment.
Section 1319.5. Rules and Regulations. The City
Council shall provide by resolution such further rules and
regulations governing the reserve police force as it may

deem nenessary and all recruits and reserve police personnel
shall be subject thereto and to such other and further rules
regulations and orders as may be prescribed by the Chief
of Police.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to tIB passage

and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to
be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News,
a weekly newspaper published, printed and circulated in the
City of Huntington Beach, Orange County, California, and
thirty (30) days after the adoption thereof the same shall
take effect . and be in force.
