HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #816 ORDINANCE No. 816 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE RELATING TO SPEED LIMITS BY ADDING SECTIONS 6172.2 and 6172.3 TO ARTICLE 617. The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach do or- dain as follows: Section 1. The Huntington Beach Ordinance Code is here- . by amended by adding Sections 6172.2 and 6172.3, which sec- tions shall read in words and figures as follows: Section 6172.2. Speed Limit on Gothard Street between Wintersburg Avenue and Talbert Avenue. The City Council does hereby find and determine, upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey, that the prima facie speed limit of 65 miles per hour on Gothard Street between Wintersburg Avenue and Talbert Avenue is more than is reasonable and safe. There- fore, the City Council does hereby determine and declare the prima facie speed limit of 35 miles per hour on said portion of Gothard Street is the. most appropriate speed to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and is reasonable and safe. Section 6172.3. Signs. The prima facie speed limit of 35 miles per hour up.on Gothard Street between Wintersburg Aven- ue and Talbert Avenue shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice of such prima facie speed limit are erected upon said street. The Chief of Police is hereby. aut'horized .and r� 1. Ord. No. K6 directed to cause said signs to be erected. Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the pass- age and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly .newspaper, printed, published, and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach, California, and thirty days after the adoption thereof, the same shall take effect and be in force.
