AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTI NGTON
BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH
ORDINANCE CODE BY AMENDING SECTIONS OF
ARTICLE 911 RELATING TO THE PLANNING
COMMISSION AND ADDING NEW SECTIONS TO
SAID ARTICLE
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach do
ordain as follows:
Section 1. That the following sections of the Hunting-
ton Beach Ordinance Code be , and they are hereby amended, and
as amended, shall read in words and figures, as follows:
Section 9111. Commission Established. There is hereby
estahlished a Planning Commission in and for the City of Hunt-
ington Beach which shall be known as the Planning Commission
of the City of Huntington Beach.
Section 9112. Members. The Planning Commission shall
consist of seven (7) members each of which shall have six (6)
residence within the City
months immediately prior to his appointment and shall not be
an officer or employee of the City.
Section 9113. Advisors, The Planning Commission shall
adopt such by-laws and rules as it deems necessary to provide
for its officers and their method of selection, time and place
of meetings and for such other matters relative to its work
and administration of its duties which are not otherwise provided
for by statute or ordinance.

Section 9111+. By-Laws. The Planning Commission
shall adopt such by-laws and rules as it deems necessary to
provide for its officers and their method of selection,
time and place of meetings- and for such other matters rela-
tive to its work and administration of its duties which
are not otherwise provided for by statute or ordinance.
Se.ction .9115. Compensation. All members of the
Planning Commission shall receive , as compensation for
their service, the sum of $15.00 for each meeting of the
Commission attended, but shall not be compensated for more
than two (2) such meetings attended in any calendar month.
Section 2. The following sections are hereby added
to the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code and shall read in
words and figures, as follows:
Section 9111.1. Duties: The duties of the Planning
Commission shall be as provided in the Conservation and
Planning Act of the State of California, as may be amended,
and as provided by ordinance of the City of Huntington
Beach.
Section 9112.1. Members of the Planning Commission
shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of a major-
ity of the City Council, provided, however, that any member
of the Council may recommend a qualified person to the
Mayor for appointment.

Section 9112.2. Members of the Planning Commission
shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years or such
other term as the Mayor may specify in making such appoint-
ment.
Section 2112.3, Any member of the Planning Commiss-
ion may be removed from office by a majority vote of the
Council.
Section 3, The City Clerk shall certify to the pass-
age and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same
to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach
News, a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated
in the City of Huntington Beach, California, and thirty (30)
days after the adoption thereof, the same shall take effect
and be in force.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Huntington Beach, California, this 150 day of November ,
1961.

Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby certify that
the whole number of members of the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach is five ; that the foregoing Ordinance was
read to said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held
on the Stn day of November ,;961, and was again read
to said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the
150 day of November , 1961, and was passed and adopted
by the affirmative vote of more than a majority of all the
members of said City Council.
