HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #912 ORDINANCE No. 912 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF .HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING ORDINANCE No- 853, ENTITLED "AN OR- DINANCE OF THE -CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ADOPTING A BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1961-1962" ; DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST, and ADDING ADDIT_ IONAL APPROPRIATIONS TO CERTAIN ITEMS OF - SAID BUDGET. WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a budget for the City of Huntington Beach for the fiscal year, 1961-1962, by passage of Ordinance No. 853; and WHEREAS, the amounts allocated at the beginning of the year to the various items in the budget were, of necessity, approximated; and the-unforseen development of the City has exceeded all expectations; and because a general increase in salary was given to all employees of the City, causing some accounts within the budget which are necessary to the health and welfare of the population, to fall short of anticipated needs; and WHEREAS, determination of the amounts necessary to adjust the budget for unforseen expenditures could not be made until information was available concerning funds to be received for the balance of the fiscal year which ends on June 30th, 1962; and it has been determined that funds are now available for these expenditures from the budget from unappropriated surplus of the various funds; and Ord. No, 912 WHEREAS,, it is now necessary that these adjust- ments in the budget appropriations be made prior to the end of the fiscal year 1961-1962 to maintain services for the immediate preservation of the peace, health, safety and public welfare. NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of and by the above preamble and statement, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach declares and defines that an emergency exists necessitating the following ordinance for the immed.• iate protection and preservation of the public health and safety". The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain as follows*. Section 1. That the City Auditor is authorized to transfer from Unappropriated Surplus of General Funds to the following general Fund Accounts , the amounts herein indicated: Acet. #1100-G Administration $17*620.00 Acet. #1400-G City Clerk 1,000,00 Acct. #1600-G Collector's Office 1,800.00 Acet. #2300-G Planning Department 4,541000 Acet. #2900-G City General .32,,000.00 Acct. #3100-G Weed Abatement 4,600..00 Aect. #3400-G Life Guard Department 2,500.00 2 Ord. Acet. #4000-G Public works Department $1,600.00 Acct. #4300-G - Engineering Department 1 000.00 Acct. #4400-G , Refuse Collection 14,000.00 Acct. #4500-G Tract Engineering & Inspection 4,000.00 Acet. #5400-G Street Cleaning 900.'00 Acct. #5600-G Street Lighting 80000.00 Aect. #6500-G Public Beaches 500.00 Aect. #6600-G Beach Front Playground. 5,000.00 Acct. #7300-G Lake Park Building 250.00 Acet. #7500-G Memorial Hall 850.00 Section 2.: This ordinance, being an emergency measure for the immediate preservation of the public health, and safety, which emergency is set forth and defined in the preamble hereto, shall take effect and be in force from and after the passage and adoption hereof. Section 3, The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper; printed, published and cir- culated in. the City of Huntington Beach, California, PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of- Huntington Beach,.-California, this 250 day of June, 1962-. - ATTEST: Mayor J City COrk Ord.
