AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC WORKS DE-
PARTMENT AND A DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does
ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Article 138 is hereby added to the
Huntington Beach Ordinance Code to read in words and figures
as follows:
ARTICLE 138
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
Section 2. That the following new sections are here-
by added to the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code to read in
words and figures as follows:
Section 1381. Public Works Department Established.
There is hereby established a Public Works Department.
Section 1382. Director of Public Works. Appointment.
Powers and Duties. The Public Works Department shall be un-
der the supervision of a Director of Public Works. The City
Engineer shall be the Director of Public Works and shall be
appointed under the provisions of the Charter of the City of
Huntington Beach and shall have such powers and duties as
provided by the Charter of the City of- Huntington Beach.

Section 1383. Director of Public Works. Salary.
The salary of the Director of Public Works shall be as set
forth by ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the pass-
age and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same
to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach
News, a weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated
in the City of Huntington Beach, California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, this 6th day of May . . 1963.

I, PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualified and act-
ing City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach and ex-officio
Clerk of the City Council of the said City, do hereby certify
that the whole number of members of the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing ordinance-
was read to said City Council at a regular meeting thereof
held on the 15th day of April 1963, and was again
read to said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held
on the 6th day of May , 1963, and was passed
and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a majority of
all the members of said City Council.
