AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF CER-
TAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED
AS "NEWLAND NO. 2 ANNEXATION" TO THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH.
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, Calif-
ornia, does ordain as follows :
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the "Annexation
of -Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939", the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach did, on the 18th day` of March,
1963, pass and adopt Resolution No. 1741,giying notice of the
proposal to annex certain uninhabited territory to the City
of Huntington Beach, said territory being therein designated
as "Newland No. 2 Annexation" and said action being taken by
the Council of said City as the legislative body of the. City,
pursuant to a written petition therefor, said Resolution de-
scribing the boundaries of the territory so proposed to be
annexed to said City; and
WHEREAS, said Resolution No. 1741, did contain a notice
of the day, hour and place when and where the said Council
of said City would hear protests made by any person owning
property within the terristory proposed to be annexed, the
time of said hearing being not less than 40 nor more than 60
days after the passage of said Resolution; and

WHEREAS, on the 6th day of May, 1963, at the hour of
8 :00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chamber in the City Hall of
the City of Huntington Beach, State of California, said time
and place being the day and hour and place fixed in said
Resolution No. 1741 for hearing protests to the said annexation,
and no protests, either written or oral, to said annexation
having been made; and
WHEREAS, said territory is contiguous to the City of
Huntington Beach, and is uninhabited territory in the County
of Orange; and
WHEREAS, the owners of more than two-thirds of the value
of the territory have heretofore filed with the City Clerk
written consent that the property in said territory be, after
annexation, subject to taxation equally with the property with-
in the City of Huntington Beach to pay the .0=mire bonded in-
debtedness of the City of Huntington Beach outstanding or auth-
orized at the date of the filing of the petition for annexation
for the acquisition, construction or completion of municipal

improvements;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach does hereby approve the annexation known as "Newland
No. 2 Annexation", the territory of which is hereinafter describ-
ed, to the City of Huntington Beach, and does hereby further

ordain that said territory be and it is hereby annexed to the
City of Huntington Beach.
That said territory, the annexation of which to the
City of Huntington Beach is herein approved, is all that terr..
itory situated in the County of Orange, State of California,
and more particularly described as follows :
Beginning at an angle point in the existing boundary
of the City of Huntington Beach, as established by
Ordinance No. 667 adopted by the City Council of said
City of Huntington Beach July 1, 1957, and certified
by the Secretary of the State of California on August
2, 1957; said angle point being the intersection of
the easterly prolongation of the southerly line of
the north half of the southwest quarter of Section 25,
Township 5- South, Range 11 West, San Bernardino Merid-
Ian, with the easterly line of the present Newland
Avenue (40 feet wide) ; thence leaving said existing
boundary, S 00 12' 09" E, along said easterly boundary
of Newland Avenue, which is also the existing boundary
of the City of Fountain Valley, incorporated June 13,
1957 656.08 feet to the easterly prolongation of the
south line of the Northeast quarter of the Southeast
quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 25, Town-
ship 5 South, Range 11 West, San Bernardino Meridian;
thence leaving -said existing boundary of the citg of
Fountain Valley incorporated June 13, 1957p N 89 54'
02" W. along said South line, 679.60 feet to existing
boundary of the City of Huntington Beach as establish-
ed by said Ordinance No. 667; thence N 0° 11, 43" .W9
following said existing city boundary, 655.02 feet,
to an existing angle point in said city boundary;
thence S 890 59 ' 34" E, following said existing city-
boundary, 679.51 feet, to the point of beginning" ,
The boundaries of said City of Huntington Beach are
hereby altered and the said territory above described is here.»
by annexed to, incorporated in and included within the City
of Huntington Beach, California, and said City shall have all

rights and powers in, to and over said territory as are pro-
vided by law.
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does
hereby further ordain that the territory above described shall
be subject to taxation equally with the property within the
City of Huntington Beach to pay the entire bonded indebtedness
of .the City of Huntington Beach outstanding on March 4th, 19639
the date of the filing of the Petition for Annexation of said
territory or theretofore authorized for the acquisition, con-
struction or completion of municipal improvements.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published
by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspap-
er printed, published and circulated in the City of Huntington
Beach, California; and thirty days after the adoption thereof
the same shall take effect and be in force.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, this 2Oth day of May, 1963.

I, PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualified and
acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach and ex-
officio Clerk of the City Council of the said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing
ordinance was read to said City Council at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 6th day of May , 1963, and
was again read to said City Council at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 20th day of May , 1963, and
was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a
majority of all the members of said City Council.
