AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH RELATING TO TRAILER PARKS;AMENDING
THE-HOMTINGTON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE' BY
REPEALING CHAPTER 87 AfID ADDING ARTICLE
818 AND' SECTI ONS THEREOF
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does
ordain as follows :
Section 1. That Chapter 87 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby repealed.
Section 2. That Article 818 is hereby added to the
Huntington Beach Ordinance Code to read in words and figures,
as follows :
ARTICLE 818
TRAILER PARKS
Section 3. That the following sections are hereby
added to Article 818' of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code
to read in words and figures, as follows : S
Section 8181. Unlawful Occupancy. It shall be unlaw-
ful for any person in a trailer park to use or cause or permit
to be used for occupancy:
(a ) Any trailer coach from which any tire or wheel
has been removed therefrom, except for the purpose of making
temporary repairs or placing it in dead storage.
(b) Any trailer coach to which are attached any rigid
water, gas -or "sewer pipes ; provided, however, that metal tubing

not to exceed one-half (1) inch inside diameter may be used
for water, and that metal tubing not less than three-quarter
(3/4) inch inside diameter nor more than fifteen (15 ) feet
in length may be used for a gas connector from the branch
service riser to the service connector.
(c) Any trailer coach which is permanently attached
with underpinning or foundation to the ground.
(d) Any trailer coach which does not conform to the
requirem&nts of the California State Vehicle Code governing
the use of trailers on public highways.
(e) Any trailer coach which does not carry a current
yearly licenseissued by any State or foreign vehicle depart-
ment.
(f) Any trailer coach in an unsanitary condition.
(g) Any trailer coach which is structurally unsound
and do&s -not protect its occupants against the elements
(697.4)
Section 8181.1. Unlawful Use. It shall be unlawful
for any person to occupy, as living quarters, any trailer
coach upon any area or tract of land within the City of
Huntington Beach, except as follows
(a) A trailer coach may be parked and used as living
quarters "in a licensed trailer park.
(b) A trailer coach may be parked for display, for
sale, and/or trade purposes only on a trailer sales lot for
which a current business license has been issued,
(c) A trailer coach may be parked upon the streets
within- the City of Huntington Beach during the daylight

hours, if not in violation of any parking rule or regulation
applicable to the area.
Section 8181. 2 ' Cabana Rental. No structure or cabana
on any trailer site may be occupied unless the site is tenant
ed by a trailer, and no structure nor cabana may be occupied
by any occupants other than those occupying the trailer
tenanting the site.
Section 8181.3 Unlawful Rent. It shall be unlawful
for any person to rent or hold out for rent any trailer coach
in a trailer park which is owned by or in the possession or
control of the owner or operator of the trailer park or his
agent. The rental paid for any such trailer coach shall also
be deemed to be rental for the space it occupies.
Section 8182 Parking. It is unlawful to park a trail-
er coach over night upon any public highway, including the
right-of-way. This provision shall not apply where a trailer
coach is parked for the purpose of making emergency repairs.
Section 8182. Caretaker. It is unlawful for any per-
son to operate or maintain, or cause or permit to be operated
or maintained, any trailer park, unless there is a caretaker
in the park at all times. The caretaker shall enforce within
the park provisions of this Ordinance governing the -operation
and maintenance of trailer parks.
Section 8184 Size. Each trailer site in a trailer park
shall be not less than one thousand (1,000) square feet in
area. The corners of said area shall be clearly and distinctly
marked. The provisions of this section shall not apply to

trailer sites in trailer parks in existence and lawfully op-
erating upon the effective date of this ordinance*
Section 8185. Driveway. No driveway shall be less
than fifteen (15 ) feet in clear and unobstructed width. No
driveway shall be less than twenty-two (22) feet in width if
parking is to be provided on one side of the driveway, and
not less than thirty (30) feet in width if parking is to
be provided on both sides of the driveway. All driveways
shall have clear and unobstructed, access to public thorough-
fare. The provisions of this section shall not apply to
trailer parks in existence and operating upon the effective
date of this ordinance, provided that in such trailer parks
no driveway shall be less than fifteen (15) feet in clear
and unobstructed width.
Section 4, That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and aaoption' of this ordinance and shall cause the
same to 'be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach
News, a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated
in the City of Huntington Beach, California and thirty (30)
days after the adoption thereof, the same shall take effect
and be in force.

of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing
ordinance was read to said City Council at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 4tn day of June , 1965, and
was again read to said City Council at a regular meeting
thereof held on. thE21st day of June , 1965, and was
passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a
ma'ority of all the members of said City Council,
