AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH ORDI-
NANCE CODE BY ADDING ARTICLE 9791ENTITLED
'OFF STREET PARKING' AND ADDING NEW SEC-
TIONS THERETO.
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach
does ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Article 979, entitled 'Off Street
Parking' is hereby added to the Huntington Beach Ordinance
Code, to read in words and figures as follows:
ARTICLE 979
OFF-STREET PARKING
Section 2. That the following new sections are here-
by added to Article 979 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance
Code, to read in words and figures, as follows:
Section 9790. INTENT. This Article is intended to
provide minimum standards for development of off-street park-
ing lots in residential, commercial, and industrial zones.
It is further intended to establish landscaping and mainten-
ance standards for these parking lots.
Section 9791. PARKING STANDARDS:
Section 9791.1. 300 Parking: All -parking lots design-
ed to have 300 parking stalls shall conform to the standards
delineated in Section 9791.6.
Section 9791.2. 450 Parking: All parking lots design-
ed to have 450 parking stalls shall conform to the standards

delineated in Section 9791.7.
Section 9751.2. 600 Parking. All parking lots design-
ated to have 600 parking stalls shall conform to the standards
delineated in Section 9791.8.
Section 2791.4. go Parking. All parking lots to have
900 parking stalls shall conform to the standards delineated
in Section 9791.9, Part 1.
Section 9791.5. Parallel Parking. All parking lots
designed to have parallel parking shall conform to the stan-
dards delineated in Section 9791.9. Part 2.

Section 9792. IMPROVEMENTS: All areas used for
off-street parking shall' be improved as follows:
Section 9792.1. Fencing.
Section 9792.1.1. Front Yard. A three and one-half
(3') foot high masonry wall shall be constructed parallel
to the front property line. Said wall shall be no closer
than five (5) feet to the front property line when across
the street from a residential zone, no closer than three
(3) feet when across from any other zone.
Section 9792.1.2. Side Yard or Rear Yard. A six
(6) foot high masonry wall shall be constructed along the
side or rear lot line when abutting a residential zone. Said
wall shall be reduced to three and one-half MD feet where
abutting the front yard of an adjoining lot.
Section 9792.1.3,. Abutting Alley. A three and one-
half (32) masonry wall shall be constructed parallel to any
alley.
Section 9792-.2. Landscaping.
Section 9792.2.1.. Open Areas. All open areas be-
tween required walls and property lines shall be landscaped
and permanently maintanined.
Section 9792.2.2. Percentage of Landscaping. A
minimum of three (3) percent of the site shall be deter-
mined by calculating three (3) percent of the net area of
the entire devel6pment.
Section 9792.3i. Paving. All paving shall conform

to Building Department Standards.
Section 9792.4. Striping. All required parking
spaces shall be striped.
Section 9792.5. Lighting. Lights used to illumi-
nate any parking lot shall be reflected toward the parking
lot and away from adjoining properties.
Section 9792.6. Bumpers or Posts. Tire stops or
concrete filled iron posts shall be required for herringbone
parking or wherever determined necessary by the Building De-
partment for safety reasons.
Section 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause
the same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington
Beach News, a weekly newspaper printed, published and circu-
lated in the City of Huntington Beach, California, and thirty
(30) days after the adoption thereof, the same shall take
effect and be in force.

certify that the whole number of members of the -City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing
ordinance was read to said City Council at a regular meeting
thereof held on the ,15th day of November , 19_kL, and
was again read to said City Council at a regular meeting thereof
held on the 6th day of December , 19 65 , and was
passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a
majority of all the members of said City Council.
