HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1172 ORDINANCE NO. 1172 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE, AMENDING ARTICLE 925 OF THE HUNTINGTON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE BY REPEALING AND AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS THEREOF RELATING TO R5 DISTRICT. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does ordain as follows : Section 1. That Sections 9251.2�.3, 9252.41 9254.21 of Article 925 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code are hereby repealed. Section 2. That Section 9251.2.4 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code is hereby renumbered to read 9251.2.3. Section 3. That the following sections of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code are hereby amended to read in words and figures as follows : Section 9250.Stgttenieritof Intent of Purpose. (a) This district is primarily intended to provide hotel, motel and trailer park accommodations for transients and vacation visitors. It is further intended to provide, as a part of these accommodations, the necessary personal service establishments to serve the transients and vacation visitors. -1- Ord No. 1172 (c) The district is not , however, intended for general shopping, merchandising, or multiple family dwelling units. Section 9251.2.1 (c). Trailer Park Wall Requirements. A six (6) foot concrete block wall , masonry wall or equivalent as approved by the Planning Commission shall be provided as a buffer on all trailer park boundaries. Section 9251.2.2 Service Establishments. Service establishments are permitted in this District within a hotel , motel , or trailer park. In all cases , public access to these service establishments shall be by way of an inner court or lobby from the hotel , motel or trailer park. No direct public access shall be permitted to the front yard area or exterior side yard area from said service establishments. (a) Service Establishments Defined. Service establish- ments shall include: Restaurants , cocktail lounges , barber shops , beauty shops , laundry or dry cleaning agencies , travel bureaus , magazine stands and other similar uses which meet the approval of the Planning Commission. -2- Ord. No. 1172 Section 9251.2.3 Public and Quasi Public Uses. Churches , lodges , private or public educational institutions , rest homes , sanitariums , convalescent hospitals and hospitals. Parking Requirements. (a) Churches and Lodges. Churches and lodges shall provide one off-street parking space for each 3 fixed seats in the sanctuary or main place of assembly plus 1 off-street parking space for each 35 sq. ft. of seating area where there are no fixed seats in such sanctuary or place of public assembly. Said parking shall conform to all provisions of Article 979. (b) Private or Public Educational Institutions. Private or public educational institutions shall provide one parking space for each 75 sq. ft. of gross floor area within any auditorium or assembly room. Said parking shall conform to all provisions of Article 979. Off-street. parking shall be provided at the following ratios : 1. Elementary schools - 1%a parking spaces for each classroom. 2. Junior high schools - 4 parking spaces for each classroom. 3. High schools - 7 parking spaces for each classroom. -3- Ord. No. 1172 (c) Rest Homes , Sanitariums and Convalescent Hospitals. Rest homes , Sanitariums and Convalescent Hospitals shall provide one off-street parking space for each one and one-half beds. Said parking shall conform to all provisions of Article 979. (d) Hospitals. Hospitals shall provide one paying space for each bed. Said parking shall conform to all provisions of Article 979. Minimum Area. The minimum area shall be 6,000 sq. ft. Minimum Frontage. The minimum frontage shall be 60 feet. Section 9252.1 Front Yard. The minimum front yard shall be five (5) feet. Parcels fronting on a State Highway shall be required to set back a minimum of fifty (50) feet from the ultimate right-of-way. Section 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News , a weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach, California., and thirty (30) days after the adoption thereof, the same shall take effect and be in force. -4- PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, this 6tb day of December , 1965.
