AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING ARTICLES 771 AND
772 AND ALL SECTIONS THEREOF, OF THE HUNTING-
TON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE.
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does
ordain as follows :
Section 1. That the following sections of Article
771 are hereby; amended, and as amended, shall read in
words and figures, as follows :
S. 7711 Definitions.
S. 7711.1 Person means any individual, firm, partnership,
joint venture, association, social club, fraternal
organization, corporation, or any other group acting as a unit.
S. Z711. 2 Alcoholic Beverages means any and all spiritous ,
vinous, malt or fermented liquor, liquids or com-
pounds, whether medicated, proprietory, patented
or not, and by whatever name called, containing one-half of
one percentum, or more, of alcohol by volume, which are potable
or fit as , or which may be used for beverage purposes.
Section 2. That the following sections of Article
772 are hereby amended, and as amended, shall read in words
and figures, as follows:
S. 7721 Unlawful Acts. It shall be unlawful for any person
to do or commit, or for any person to cause or per-
mit to be done or committed within the boundaries of any public
park within the City of Huntington Beach, any of the following:
S. 7721.1 Disfiguration and removal : Willfully cut, break,
injure, deface, disfigure, tamper with, displace 'or
remove any tree, shrub, plant, turf, rock, sand, soil , building,
fence, table, bench, barbecue unit, pole, light, playground
apparatus, bridge, railing, paving material, fountain, trash
receptacle, water line or other public utility, part or appur-
tenance thereof, sign, notice or placard whether temporary or
permanent, monument, stake, post, or other boundary marker,
structure, or park facility whatsoever, either real or personal.

S. 7721. 2 Public Toilets : Fail to cooperate in maintain-
ing public toilets in a neat and sanitary condit-
ion or to loiter in or about any public toilet or to enter
any public toilet designated for the opposite sex except that
this provision shall not apply to persons under five (5) years
of age that are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
S. 7721.E Trash and GarbaLe: Deposit, throw, discharge or
otherwise place any paper, rubbish, debris , or
any substance, matter or thing, either liquid or solid, in
the waters of any fountain, pond, lake, stream, bay or other
body of water in or adjacent to any park or in or on the
grounds of said park except in the proper receptacles where
these are provided. Where receptacles are not provided all
such rubbish or waste shall be carried from the park by the '
person responsible for its presence, and properly disposed of
elsewhere.
S. 7 21.4- Vehicles : Operate, drive, ride, park, or leave
standing any motor vehicle or any other vehicle
or to ride any horse or other animal at any time provided,
however, that the provisions of this section shall not apply
to those specific areas within any public park of the City
which shall have been regularly and lawfully set aside for the
use of vehicles or for use of horses or other animals ; and
provided further, that the provisions of this section shall
not apply to any vehicle used or owned by the City or any com-
mercial vehicle making lawful deliveries to or otherwise law-
fully engaged in any undertaking or enterprise within any pub-
lic park of the City.
S. 7721.5 Animals : Lead or let loose any cattle, horse,
mule, goat, sheep, swine, or fowl or animal of
any kind except that it shall not be unlawful to maintain dogs
on a leash not in excess of six (6 ) feet.
S. 7721.6 Conduct: Indulge in riotous, boisterous, threat-
ening, or indecent conduct or use abusive, pro-
fane, or indecent language.
S. 7?21.7 Gambling: Gamble or engage in gambling.
S. 7721.8 Vending and peddling: Expose or offer for sale
any article or thing, nor shall he station or
place any stand, cart, or vehicle for the transportation,sale,
or display of any such article or thing except by written per-
mission from the City Administrator of the City.
S. 7721.9 Alcoholic Beverages : To consume or have in his
or her possession, custody, or control any alco-
holic beverage of any kind whatsoever.
S. 7721.10 Dangerous Activities : Play or engage in any
game or ac ivl y construed to be dangerous to
either the participant or others such as baseball, archery,
model airplane flying, golf, moto.rboating, water skiing, use

of firearms or fireworks in any park. other than areas specif-
ically posted to allow such special use.
S. 7721.11 Curfew: Remain, stay, or loiter on or about
any such park between the hours of 10:00 p.m.
and 5:00 a.m. of the following day provided that this section
shall not apply to attendance at authorized community activi-
ties in the park.
S. 7721.12 AdvertisinE and Si&ns : Announce, advertise or
call the public attention in any way to any
article or service for sale or hire or to past0, glue, tack
or otherwise post any sign, placard, advertisement, or inscrip-
tion whatever except by written permission from the City Ad-
ministrator of the City.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the pass-
cause
age and adoption of this ordinance and shall/the same to be
published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News, a
weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated in the
City of Huntington Beach, California, and thirty (30) days
after the adoption thereof, the same shall take effect and be
in for°ce.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, this 6tn day of September
1966.

acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach and ex-
officio Clerk of the City Council of the said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing
ordinance was read to said City Council at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 15th day of August , 19 66 , and
was again read to said City Council at a regular meeting thereof
held on the 6tn day of September 19 66 , and was
passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a
majority of all the members of said City Council .
