HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1292 ORDINANCE NO- 1292 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH PERTAINING TO TRAFFIC REGULA- TIONS ON STATE HIGHWAYS: DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST AND ADDING SECTION 6022 TO THE HUNTING- TON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE. WHEREAS, the intersection of Beach Bdulevard and Edinger Street is a- dangerous intersection with a tremendous flow of traffic; and WHEREAS, the- State Highway Department will not approve posting of "No- Stop" signs until this ordinance has been passed; NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does- ordain as follows: Section 1. That Section 6022 Is hereby added to the-Hunt- ington Beach Ordinance Code to read in words and figures, as follows: Section 6022. Any provision of this ordinance which regu- lates traffic or delegates the regulation of traffic upon state highways in any way for which the approv- al of the State Department of Public Works is required by state law, shall cease to be operative six months after receipt by the City Council of written notice of withdrawal of approval of the State Department of Public Works. Whenever this ordinance delegates authority to a city officer, or authorizes action by the City Council to regulate traffic upon a state highway In any way which, by law, requires the prior approval of the State Department of Public Works* no such .officer shall exercise such authority nor shall such action by the City Council be effective with respect to any state highway without the prior approval, in writing, of the State Department of Public Works when and to the extent required by the State Vehicle Code. Ord. No. 1292 Section 2. This ordinance, being an emergency measure for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, which emergency is set forth and defined in the preamble hereof, shall take effect and be in force from and after the passage and adoption of this ordinance. Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the pass- age and adoption. of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published- by one insertion in. the Huntington. Beach News, a weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated In the City of Huntington Beach, California. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 3rd day of January 1967.
