HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1366 ORDINANCE No. 1366 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTINGTO14 BEACH ORDINANCE CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 9700 (a) and 9700 (m) ; REDEFINING MOTELS TO PERMIT �25% OF SLEEPING UNITS TO HAVE KITCHENETTES AND•Add- ING SECTIONS 9251.2.1 and SECTION 9471.1(c) RE- LATING TO DEFINITIONS, LOCATION, and ACCESS. The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does ordain as follows : Section 1. Sections 9700(s) and 9700(m) of the Hunting- ton Beach Ordinance Code are hereby amended and as amended, shall read in words and figures, as follows : S. 9700 DEFINITIONS: (a) Accessory: A detached structure, building, or portion of or either, the use and maintenance of which is subordinate and purely incidental to that of the main building or main use of the land and which is located on the same lot there- with. A artment: A room or suite of two or core rooms which is designed or intended for use and/or occupancy by only one family which may do its own cooking in said room or suite Automobile Parking Space Automobile Storage Space Spacet or Garage ace: A permanently maintained, privately owned space o no less than one hundred forty-four (144) square feet in area, accessible to and usable by an average size automobile under its own power, for temporary, off-street parking or storage thereof. Said automobile storage space, whether or not located within a building, shall be exclusive of driveways, walks, ramps, columns, and areas devoted to other purposes than the stor- age or parking of automobiles. (m) Motel: A building or group of buildings designed for the accomodation of transient automobile travelers in sleeping units which have a direct outside entrance and conveniently located parking spaces on the same lot. Said sleeping units may have kitchens or kitchenettes up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) per cent of the total number of sleeping units. 1. Ord. 1366 Motor Vehicle Dismantling or Wrecks Yard: A motor vehicle dismantling or wrecking yard shall mean the use of any lot or any -portion of a lot for dismantling, dis- assembly, or demolishing motor vehicles. This definition shall not be construed to allow storage or impounding of motor vehicles nor as a yard for the storage of scrap metals, scrap materials or junk. Motor Vehicle Storage Yard: A motor vehicle storage yard shall r}ean the use of any lot or any portion of a lot for the storage or impounding of motor vehicles. This definit- ion shall not be construed to include dismantling, wreck- ing, repair or alteration of any vehicle. Section 2. The following sections are hereby added to the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code to read in words and figures as follows : S. 9251.2.1. (h) Location and Access : All motels shall be lo,. cated on and take vehicuular access from an arterial highway. Said arterial highway shall be depicted on the Master Plan of Arterial Streets and Highways. S. 9471.1. (c) Location and Access: All motels shall be lo- cated on and to e vehicular access from an ar- terial highway. Said arterial highway shall be depicted on the Master Plan of Arterial Streets and Highways. Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated in the City of Hunt- ington Beach, California, and thirty (30) days after the adoption thereof, the same shall take effect and be in force.
