HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1640 ORDINANCE NO. 1640 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE BY ADDING TO ARTICLE 811, SECTIONS 8115, 8115 .1, 8115 . 2 AND 8115 . 5 The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does ordain as follows : SECTION 1. The Huntington Beach Ordinance Code is hereby amended by adding Sections 8115, 8115 .1, 8115 . 2 and 8115 .5 to read as follows : 8115 . Section 306(a) entitled, "Use or Occupancy" of the Uniform Building Code, Volume I, 1970 edition, is hereby amended to read as follows : USE OR OCCUPANCY. No building or structure in Group A to H inclusive, shall be used or occupied, and no change in the existing occupancy classification of a building or structure or portion thereof shall be made until the building official has issued a certificate of occupancy therefor, as provided herein. 8115 . 1 . CHANGE IN USE. Changes in the character or use of a building shall not be made except as specified in Section 502 of the Uniform Building Code, Volume I, 1970 edition . 8115 . 2 . -CERTIFICATE ISSUED. After final inspection, when it is found that the building or structure complies with the pro- visions of all pertinent laws , codes , ordinances and any imposed conditions , the building official shall issue a certificate of occupancy which shall contain the following: (a) The building permit number; (b) The address of the building; (c) The name and address of the owner; (d) A description of that portion of the building for which a certificate is issued; (e) A statement that the described portion of the building complies with the requirements of all codes for the group of oc- cupancy in which the proposed occupancy is classified; and (f) The name of the building official . 1 . 8115 . 5 . POSTING. The certificate of occupancy, or con- ditional certificate of occupancy, shall be posted in a con- spicuous place on the premises and shall not be removed except by the building official . SECTION 2 . This ordinance shall take effect thirty days after its adoption. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and cause same to be published within fifteen days after adoption in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly news- paper of general circulation, printed and published in Huntington Beach, California.
