AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTING-
TON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE BY AMENDING
SECTION 7511. 9 WITH RESPECT TO HAZARD-
OUS WATER SPORTS
WHEREAS, the summer season always brings an increase in
beach and water activities ; and
Certain water sports are hazardous to life and limb unless
confined to specific times and places ; and
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach wishes
to insure that all users of the city ' s beach may do so with
perfect safety and enjoyment ,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach does ordain as follows :
SECTION 2. The Huntington Beach Ordinance Code is hereby
amended by amending Section 7511. 9 to read as follows :
7511. 9 . HAZARDOUS WATER SPORTS . During the period from
June 15 to September 10 inclusive of each year, between the
hours of 11: 00 a.m. and 5: 00 p.m. , no person in the water of
the Pacific Ocean or within 300 yards of the mean high tide
line thereof within the city limits of Huntington Beach, shall
use or have in his possession any surfboard, paddleboard, belly-
board, skimmer, canoe, boat , or any similar object made en-
tirely or partially of wood, metal, hard plastic , or any other
hard substance, provided, however, that the prohibition against
surfboards, bellyboards, and paddleboards shall not apply to
the area set apart therefor lying north of Sixteenth Street
and south of the Bolsa Chica State Beach southern boundary
line .
SECTION 2. This is an emergency measure necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and
welfare, and shall take effect upon adoption. The City Clerk
shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause
same to be published within fifteen days of its passage in the

Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the
