HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1909 f _ ORDINANCE NO. 1909 AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUIRING SIGNS INDICATING PRICES OF GASOLINE AND HOURS OF OPERATION AT ALL SERVICE STATIONS The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does ordain as follows: SECTION 1 . Notwithstanding any other ordinance in the Ordi- nance Code to the contrary, every service station in the City of Huntington Beach, as defined in Section 9700. 17 (1) of this Code, shall maintain signs on the premises , readily visible from the street by passing motorists, bearing lettering and numbering, not to exceed ten inches (1011 ) in height, indicating the hours of operation and the price of each type or class of gasoline being offered for sale. Each violation of this ordi- nance shall be an infraction punishable by a fine not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100) . SECTION 2 . This is an emergency ordinance necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare, for the reason that it is necessary to prevent traffic hazards, and shall take effect upon adoption. This ordinance shall be of no further force and effect after ninety (90 ) days from its adoption unless sooner repealed. This ordi- nance has been passed, pursuant to Section 511 of the Huntington Beach City Charter, by at least five (5) affirmative votes . The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause same to be published within fifteen days of its passage in the Huntington Beach News, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in Huntington Beach, California.
