AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
EXTENDING THE TIME FOR COMPLIANCE WITH SECTION
9482 (b ) OF ARTICLE 948 OF THE HUNTINGTON BEACH
ORDINANCE CODE FOR A PERIOD OF 120 DAYS
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 1799, adopted December 18,
1972, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach
established certain standards for service stations in the
city of Huntington Beach, and
Article 948, Section 9482 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code, established definite time periods in which
existing service stations, made nonconforming by provisions of
Article 948 , were required to comply with the provisions
contained therein; and
Section 9482(b ) of Article 948 provided as follows :
" (b ) Restroom screening, landscaping, trash
area, tire storage, separation walls, and
miscellaneous signs shall be removed or
altered to comply with the provisions of
this article not later than two (2) years
after this article takes effect . "
The deadline for compliance with Section 9482 was January 18,
1975, and in preparation for enforcement of the provisions of
Section 9482(b ) , the staff has undertaken an extensive investiga-
tion of the service station facilities within the city of
Huntington Beach, and the extent of modification and improvement
of such service station facilities which will be required to
meet the provisions of Section 9482 (b ) ; and
Extensive modification and improvements may be required by
a vast majority of stations to meet these requirements, and
the City Council is desirous of re-examining the appropriateness
under Section 9482(b ) of the provisions of Article 948, prior to
their enforcement ,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach does ordain that the time for compliance with provisions

of Section 9482(b ) of Article 948 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code is hereby extended for a period of 120 days from
January 18, 1975.
SECTION 1. This ordinance shall take effect thirty days
after its adoption. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and cause same to be published within fifteen
days after adoption in the Huntington Beach News , a weekly news-
paper of general circulation, printed and published in Huntington
Beach, California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd
day of February, 1975.

19 75 , and was again read to said City Council at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of February , 19__U and
was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a majority of
all the members of said City Council.
