HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #2421 ORDINANCE NO . 2421 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING SECTIONS 10 .12.010 AND 10 .12 .040, CHANGING THE SPEED LIMIT ON SAYBROOK LANE The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The Huntington Beach Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending Sections 10 .12.010 and 10. 12 .040 to read as follows: 10 .12 .010 Twenty-five m.p.h. prima facie speed limit. Upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey of the por- tions of those streets hereinafter set forth, the city council determines and declares that the prima facie limit of twenty-five ( 25 ) miles per hour would facilitate the orderly movement of ve- hicular traffic and would be reasonable and safe upon said streets and that the prima facie limit of speed on a portion of said streets shall be and is twenty-five (25) miles per hour: (a) Adams Avenue between Main Street and Lake Avenue; (b) Davenport Drive between Baruna and Edgewater Lanes; ( c) Holland Drive between Beach Boulevard and Marken Lane ; (d) Huntington Street between Taylor Drive and Yorktown Avenue; ( e) Main Street between Adams Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway; (f) McFadden Avenue between Bolsa Chica Street and Chemical Lane; (g) Saybrook Lane between Heil Avenue and Davenport Drive. 10.12 .040 Forty m.p.h. prima facie speed limit. Upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey of the portions of the streets hereinafter set forth , the city council determines and declares that a speed greater than the prima facie limit of twenty-five ( 25) miles per hour would facilitate the orderly movement of vehicular traffic and would be reasonable and safe upon said streets; that a prima facie speed limit of forty (40) miles per hour is the most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and is reasonable and safe ; and that the prima facie limit of speed on a portion of said streets shall be /ahb 2/13/80 1. and is forty (40) miles per hour: (a) Adams Avenue between Lake Avenue and Beach Boulevard; (b) Algonquin Street between Warner and Heil Avenues ; ( c) Argosy Avenue between Bolsa Chica and Graham Streets; (d) Atlanta Avenue between Lake and Brookhurst Streets; ( e) Banning Avenue between Magnolia and Brookhurst Streets; (f) Center Avenue between Gothard Street and Beach Boule- vard; (g) Delaware Street between Yorktown and Adams Avenues; (h) Edinger Avenue between Beach Boulevard and west city limits ; ( i) Edwards Street between Bolsa and Garfield Avenues; Q) Ellis Avenue between Beach Boulevard and east city limits; (k) Ellis Avenue between Goldenwest and Gothard Streets ; (1) Florida Street between Main Street and Garfield Avenue; (m) Garfield Avenue between Goldenwest and Newland Streets; (n) Goldenwest Street from Pacific Coast Highway to north city limits ; (o) Gothard Street between McFadden and Edinger Avenues ; (p) Graham Street between Edinger and Heil Avenues ; ( q) Graham Street between Warner Avenue and south city limits ; ( r) Hamilton Avenue between Newland Street and east city limits ; ( s) Heil Avenue between Saybrook Lane and Beach Boulevard; ( t) Indianapolis Avenue between Newland and Brookhurst Streets; (u) Main Street between Beach Boulevard and Yorktown Avenue; (v) McFadden Avenue between Goldenwest Street to east city limits; (w) Newland Street between Heil Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway; W Orange Avenue between Goldenwest and Seventeenth Streets ; (y) Saybrook Lane between Heil and Edinger Avenues . ( z) Slater Avenue between Newland Street and west city limits; (aa) Springdale Street between Edinger and Talbert Avenues ; (bb) Talbert Avenue between Goldenwest and Newland Streets; (cc) Yorktown Avenue between Beach Boulevard and Ward Street. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect thirty days after its adoption. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and cause same to be published within fifteen days after adoption in the Huntington Beach Independent, a newspaper of general circulation.
