HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #2511 ORDINANCE NO. 2511 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 9791, AND ADDING SECTIONS 9792. 8 THROUGH 9792. 8.2 RELATING TO COMPACT CAR PARKING The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does ordain as follows : SECTION 1. The Huntington Beach Ordinance Code is hereby amended by amending section 9791 to read as follows : 9791. OFF-STREET PARKING STANDARDS. The following standards shall apply to all off-street parking areas : (a) Thirty Degree Parking. All parking lots designed for thirty (30 degree parking stalls shall conform to Diagram A hereof. (b) Forty-five Degree Parking. All parking 'lots designed for forty-five ( 5 ) degree parking stalls shall conform to dia- gram B hereof. ( c) Sixty Degree Parking. All parking lots designed for sixty (60) degree parking stalls shall conform to Diagram C hereof. (d) Ninety Degree Parking. All parking lots designed for ninety (90 degree parking stalls shall conform to Diagram D hereof. ( e) Parallel Parking. All parking lots designed to have parallel parking shall conform to Diagram E hereof. (f) Compact Parking. All parking facilities designed for compact cars shall conform to Diagram J hereof. SECTION 2. The Huntington Beach Ordinance Code is hereby amended by adding thereto sections 9792.8 through 9792.8.2 to read as follows : 9792.8 . COMPACT CAR PARKING. For the purpose of this article, a compact car is one which is not more than fifteen (15) ahb 9/3/81 1. Compact car parking may be used to satisfy a portion of the required parking for commercial uses , subject to the review and approval of the Director of Development Services , or at the time of an initial application for entitlement of a use , as required by this code. Such approval shall not be granted unless the applicant has satisfactorily demonstrated that: (a) Compact car parking is a workable alternative to stand- dard parking through design and layout and is not likely to re- sult in unnecessary traffic congestion; and (b) An equitable system of assignment and distribution of parking stalls for compact cars has been established; and ( c) Stalls provided for compact cars can be converted, if necessary, to standard parking stalls. 9792.8 .1 . STALL SIZE. Except as demonstrated on Diagram J, the minimum size for compact car stalls shall not be less than eight (8) feet wide and fifteen ( 15) feet long. 9792.8.2. COMPACT PARKING ALLOCATION. Commercial develop- ments with twenty (20) or more parking spaces shall be allowed a maximum of 40 percent compact car parking. Spaces allocated for compact cars shall be clearly designated as such at the foot of each stall. SECTION 2. ' This ordinance shall take effect thirty days after its adoption.
