AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE
BY AMENDING SECTIONS 10 .12.020 THROUGH
10. 12.030 ESTABLISHING PRIMA FACIE SPEED
LIMIT FOR DELAWARE STREET
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does
ordain as follows :
SECTION 1. The Huntington Beach Municipal Code is hereby
amended by amending sections 10.12.020 through 10.12.040 to
read as follows :
10.12. 020 Thirty m.p.h. prima facie speed limit . Upon the
basis of an engineering and traffic survey of the portions of the
streets hereinafter set forth, the city council determines and
declares that a speed greater than the prima facie limit of
twenty-five (25) miles per hour would facilitate the orderly
movement of vehicular traffic and would be reasonable and safe
upon said streets; that a prima facie speed limit of thirty ( 30)
miles per hour is the most appropriate to facilitate the orderly
movement of traffic and is reasonable and safe; and that the
prima facie limit of speed on a portion of said streets shall be
and is thirty (30) miles per hour :
(a) Bolsa Chica Street between Warner Avenue and south
city limits ;
(b) Channel Lane between Admiralty and Gilbert Drives;
( c) Clay Avenue between Delaware Street and Beach Boulevard,;
(d) Graham Street between Warner and Slater Avenues;
(e) Huntington Street between Yorktown and Atlanta Avenues;
(f) Indianapolis Avenue between Beach Boulevard and
Newland Street;
(g) McFadden Avenue between Chemical Lane and Graham
Street;
(h) Orange Avenue between 17th and Main Streets ;
( i) Parkside Lane between Edinger and Holt Avenues .
10.12.030 Thirty-five m.p.h. prima facie speed. Upon the
basis of an engineering and traffic survey of the portions of
the streets hereinafter set forth, the city council determines
and declares that a speed greater than the prima facie limit of

( a) Clay Avenue between Main and Delaware Streets;
(b) Davenport Drive between Edgewater Lane and Algonquin
Street;
( c) Delaware Street between Ellis and Atlanta Avenues;
(d) Edwards Street between Bolsa Avenue and north city
limits;
(e) Ellis Avenue between Delaware Street and Beach
Boulevard;
(f) Gothard Street between Warner Avenue and Main Street;
(g) Graham Street between Heil and Warner Avenues;
(h) Heil Avenue between Beach Boulevard and east city
limits;
( i) Huntington Street between Atlanta Avenue and Pacific
Coast Highway;
( j) Lake Avenue between 17th Street and Pacific Coast
Highway;
(k) Main Street between Yorktown and Adams Avenues ;
(1) Monterey Lane between Edinger Avenue and Saybrook Lane;
(m) Palm Avenue between Goldenwest and Main Streets;
(n) Rancho Road between Bolsa Chica Street and east city
limits;
(o) Sher Lane between Edinger Avenue and Juliette Low Drive;
(p) Yorktown Avenue between Goldenwest Street and Beach
Boulevard;
(q) Seventeenth Street between Florida Street and Pacific
Coast Highway;
(r) Warner Avenue between Sceptre Lane and Pacific Coast
Highway.
10 .12. 040 Forty m.p.h. prima facie speed limit. Upon the
basis of an engineering and traffic survey of the portions of
the streets hereinafter set forth, the city council determines and
declares that a speed greater than the prima facie limit of
twenty-five ( 25) miles per hour would facilitate the orderly move-
ment of vehicular traffic and would be reasonable and safe upon
said streets; that a prima facie speed limit of forty (40) miles
per hour is the most appropriate to facilitate the orderly move-
ment of traffic and is reasonable and safe; and that the prima
facie limit of speed on a portion of said streets shall be and
is forty (40) miles per hour :
(a) Adams Avenue between Lake Avenue and Beach Boulevard;
(b) Algonquin Street between Warner and Heil Avenues ;

( c) Argosy Avenue between Bolsa Chica and Graham Streets;
(d) Atlanta Avenue between Lake and Brookhurst Streets;
( e) Banning Avenue between Magnolia and Brookhurst Streets;
(f) Center Avenue between Gothard Street and Beach Boulevard;
(g) Edinger Avenue between Beach Boulevard and west city
limits ;
(h) Edwards Street between Bolsa and Garfield Avenues;
( i) Ellis Avenue between Beach Boulevard and east city
limits ;
( j) Ellis Avenue between Goldenwest and Gothard Streets ;
(k) Florida Street between Main Street and Garfield Avenue;
( 1) Garfield Avenue between Goldenwest and Newland Streets;
(m) Goldenwest Street from Pacific Coast Highway to north
city limits;
(n) Gothard Street between McFadden and Edinger Avenues ;
(o) Graham Street between Edinger and Heil Avenues ;
(p) Graham Street between Slater Avenue and south city
limits ;
(q) Hamilton Avenue between Newland Street and east city
limits ;
( r) Heil Avenue between Saybrook Lane and Beach Boulevard;
(s) Indianapolis Avenue between Newland and Brookhurst
Streets;
(t) Main Street between Beach Boulevard and Yorktown Avenue;
(u) McFadden Avenue between Goldenwest Street to east city
limits;
(v) Newland Street between Heil Avenue and Pacific Coast
Highway;
(w) Orange Avenue between Goldenwest and 17th Streets;
(x) Saybrook Lane between Heil and Edinger Avenues;
(y) Slater Avenue between Newland Street and west city
limits ;
( z) Springdale Street between Edinger and Talbert Avenues;
(aa) Talbert Avenue between Goldenwest and Newland Streets;
(bb) Yorktown Avenue between Beach Boulevard and Ward Street.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect thirty days
after its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 4th
day of January 1982.

of members of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is seven;
that the foregoing ordinance was read to said City Council at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 21st day of December
1981 , and was again read to said City Council at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 4th day of January 19 82 and
was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a majority of
all the members of said City Council.
