HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #2895 ORDINANCE NO. 2895 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING CHAPTER 2 .107 ESTABLISHING AN HISTORIC RESOURCES BOARD WHEREAS, the city desires to form an Historic Resources Board to identify and record the historic assets of the city and to develop an implementation program for their preservation, The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does ordain as follows : SECTION 1 . The Huntington Beach Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding a chapter thereto to be entitled Chapter 2 . 107, Historic Resources Board to read as follows : CHAPTER 2 . 107 HISTORICAL RESOURCES BOARD Section 2 .107 .010. Establishment. There is hereby established the Huntington Beach Historic Resources Board, to consist of not less than seven (7 ) nor more than elevep ( 11) members, to be appointed to serve terms of four years .. Section 1 .107 .020 . Purposes. The purposes of the Board shall be to: a. Identify and record the historic assets of the community and develop an implementation program for their preservation. b. Cooperate with other city agencies such as the Planning Commission to insure that historical preservation is considered in planning for the future development of our community. 1 . C. Coordinate the activities of local groups whose interests involve history or historical preservation, such as local historic societies, libraries, and schools . d. Serve as a liaison between these groups and the state and federal agencies and preservation organizations . Section 2 . 107 .030 . Bylaws. The Board shall establish bylaws which shall be submitted to and subject to the approval of the City Council . Section 2 .107 .040 . Membership. The members of the Board shall be electors of the city. No temporary, full-time, or part-time employee shall be eligible for Board membership. Section 2 .107 .050 . Operating Policies . The Board shall conform to the operating policy for Boards and Commissions as contained in the Huntington Beach Municipal Code.
