HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 105 1/2 April 18,1910 RESOLUTION #105 WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held on April 11, 1910, in this city, pursuant to ordinances of this city and the laws of the Mate of California, for the purpose of electing five trustees, a city clerk, city Treasurer, and city marshal, and deciding certain questions ; and, WHEREAS, upon canvassing the returns of the election board of said election it is found that the following vote was cast: 764 votes being cast in all. FOR TRUSTEE: E . E. French, 102 M. E. Helme, 77 Ed. Manning, 121 A. L. Reed, 56 W. D. Seely, 126 D. 0. Stewart, 105 C. W. Warner, 60 J. A. Lake, 74 FOR CITY MARSHAL C. F. Sorenson, 68 E. L. Lavering, 87 Res. 105k Page 2 40 FOR THE QUESTION- "Shall the City of Huntington Beach avail itseld of the provisions of Statutes of 1893, 'An Act to provide for the planting, maintenance and care of shade trees upon streets, lanes, alleys, courts and places within municipalities, and of hedges upon lanes thereof; ' also, for the eradication of certain weeds within City limits?", 95 Against its 30 FOR THE QUESTION: "Shall each member of the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach receive as compen- sation as such member Four Dollars ($4.00) per month, pay- able monthly?" 66 Against it 62 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the hereinafter named five elector, having received the highest number of votes for said office, are elected, and are elected, and are hereby declared to be elected, to the office of City Trustee of the City of Huntington Beach, California: E. E. French, M. E. Helme, Ed. Manning W. D. Seely, D. 0. Stewart . That the hereinafter named elector, having received the highest number of votes for said office, is elected, and is hereby delcared to be elected to the office of City Mar- shal of the City of Huntington Beach, California: C. F. Sorenson. That the hereinafter named elector, having received the highest number of votes for said office, is elected, and is hereby declared to be elected to the office of City Treas- urer of the City of Huntington Beach, California: R. E. Graves . Res. 105k Page 2 That the hereinafter named elector, having received the highest number of votes for said office, is elected, and is hereby declared to be elected to the office of City Clerk of the said City of Huntington Beach, California: C. E. Laverng. That the following question, having received in its favor a majority of the votes cast at said election, is hereby declared to have been carried: "Shall the City of Huntington Beach avail- itseld of the provisions of Statutes of 1893, Page 153, as amended by Statutes 1901, Page 331, entitled 'An Act to provide for the planting, maintenance and care of shade trees upon streets, lanes, alleys, courts and places within municipalities, and of hedges upon lanes thereof, and also for the eradication of certain weeds within city limits' ?" That the following question, not having received in its favor a majority of the votes cast at said election, is hereby declared not to have been carried: "Shall each member of the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach received as compensation as much member Pour Dollars ($4.00) per month, payable monthly?" AYES: Helnme, Howard, Stewart, Warner, Manning NOES: None ABSENT: None
