A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF T"-HE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AWARDING
CONTRACT FOR THE ILPROVEI'TENT OF A PORTION
OF SEVENTH STREET IN SAID CITY.

The Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington
Beach, do resolve as follows: -
Section 1. That whereas the Board of Trustees of
the City of Huntington Beach, having in open session on the
6th day of February, 1911 , at the regular meeting of said
Board, publicly opened, examined and declared all sealed
proposals or bids offered for doing the following described
work, to-wit:-
(a) That a cement sidewalk, five feet in width be
constructed along each and both sides of Seventh Street from
the North line of Ocean Avenue to the South line of Palm Avenue
( excepting such portions of said Seventh Street between said
points, along which a cement sidewalk five feet in width has
already been constructed and now is to the official line and
grade) in accordance with Specifications No. 2 as adopted by
Ordinance No. 29 of the said City of Huntington Beach, for the
. construction of cement sidewalks in the said City of Huntington
Beach, on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City;

and in further accordance with the plans, profiles and
cross-sections for said work on file in the office of the
City Engineer of said City; and plans, profiles and cross-
sections being numbered No. 15; to which specifications,
plans, profiles and cross-sections, reference is hereby made
for a more particular description of said work.
Said sidewalk shall be so constructed that the line
of the inner side of the same shall be parallel to and one
foot from the property line of the abutting property of said
street.
(b) That cement curbs be constructed at grade
along; each and both sides of Seventh Street from the North
line of Ocean Avenue to the South line of Palm Avenve( exceDt-
ing such portions of said Seventh Street between said points,
along which a cement curb has already been constructed and
now is to the official line and grade) in accordance with
Specifications No. 1 as adopted by Ordinance No. 28 of the

City of Huntington Beach, for the construction of cement
curbs in the City of Huntington Beach, on file in the office
of the City Clerk of said City; and in further accordance with
the plans, profiles and cross-sections for said work on file
in the office of the City Engineer of said City; said plans,
profiles and cross-sections being numbered No . 19; to which
specifications, plans, profiles and cross-sections reference
is hereby made for a more particular description of said work.
Said curbs shall be so constructed that the outer
edge of the horizontal surface thereof shall be on a line in

said street 12 1/2 feet from and parallel to the property
line of the abutting property of said street.
Section 2. That the proceedings for the aforesaid
improvements shall be taken under and act of the Legislature
of the State of California entitled "An Act to provide for
work upon and the construction of sidewalks and curbing within
municipalities, " approved March 6, 1909.
Section 3. And whereas Four bids filed with the
City Clerk for the doing, of said work, to-wit: -
That of J. W. Cowsert at al cents per lineal foot,
That of J. C. Henderson at 82 2/10 cents per lineal
foot,
That of J.C . Brunton at 82 9/10 cents per lineal
foot,
and that of J.W. Huntoon at 85 cents per lineal foot,
and whereas this Board of Trustees find that the said
J.W. Cowsert, is the lowest regular responsible bidder for
said work, and that the bid of said person is a reasonable bid:
Section 4. NOW THEREFORE, said Board of Trustees
hereby awards said contract to the said lowest regular respon-
sible bidder, to-wit: to J.W. Cowsert, at the price named for
said worlk in His proposal for said work on file with the City
Clerk.
Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby directed to
post notices of award with specifications conspicuously for
five (5) days on or near the council chamber door of this
Board of Trustees, to-wit: on or near the door of the City
H'all of the City of Huntington Beach.

Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter it
shall take effect and be in force.
Passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the
City of Huntington Beach and signed by the President thereof
this 6th day of February, 1911.

tion was passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the

President thereof on the 6tIq day of February, 1911, and that
the same was passed by the following vote:-
AYES: Helme--Seely--Stewart--French--Manning.
