HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 194 RESOLUTION NO. 194 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF A PORTION OF FRANKFORT STREET IN SAID CITY. The Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach do resolve as follows : Section 1. That whereas the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach, having in open session on the 27th day of February, 1911, at the regular adjourned meeting of said Board, publicly opened, examined and declared all sealed proposals or bids offered for doing the following described work, to-wit: That cement curbs be constructed along each and both sides of Frankfort Street from the East property line of Alabama Avenue to the '.pest property line of Delaware Avenue (excepting such portions of said Frankfort Street between said points , along which a cement curb has already been constructed and now is to the official line and grade) , in accordance with Speci- fications No.l , as adopted by Ordinance No.28 of the said City of Huntington Beach for the construction of cement curbs in the City of Huntington Beach, on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, to which specifications reference is hereby made and the same are made a part hereof, and also according to plans, profiles and cross-sections for said work on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City .said plans , profiles and cross - sections sections being numbered No.20, and to which said plans , profiles and cross-sections reference is hereby made Eor a more particular descrivtion of said wor k. The said curbs shall be so constructed that the outer edge of the horizontal surface shall be on a line in said street ten (10) feet from and parallel to the property line of the abutt- ing property of said street. Section 2. That the proceedings for the aforesaid improve- ments shall be taken under an act of the Legislature of the State of California entitled, "An Act to provide for work upon and the construction of sidewalks and curbing within municipalities , " approved March 6, 1909. Section 3. And whereas Two bids were filed with the City Clerk for the doing of said work, to-wit, That of J. E. Brunton at 31.5 per 'lineal foot, and that of J. W. Cowsert & Co. , at 29.9 per lineal foot, and Whereas , this Board of Trustees finds that the said J. A'. Cowstivit and Co. , is the lowest regular responsible bidder for s�Ad work, and that the bid of said persons is a reasonable bid. Section 4. NOW THEREFORE, the said Board of Trustees hereby awards said contract to the said lowest regular respon- sible bidder, to-wit: to J. IT . Cowsert and Company, at the price named for said work in his proposal on file for said work. Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post notices with specifications of award conspicuously for five (5) days on or near the council chamber door of this Board of Trustees, to-wit: on or near the door of the City Hall of the City of Huntington Beach. Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter it shall take 2. • effect and be in force.
