HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 239 February 10, 1912 RESOLUTION NO. 239 A Resolution Determining and Declaring that the Public Interest and Necessity Demand the Acquisition, Con- struction and Completion by the City of Huntington Beach of a Certain Municipal Improvement, to-wit: A Wharf, the Esti- mated Cost of which Will be too Great to be Paid out of the ordinary Annual Income and Revenue of said City. The Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach do Hereby Resolved as follows: Section 1. That this Board of Trustees does hereby determine and declare that the public interest and necessity demand the acquisition, construction and completion by the City of Huntington Beach of a certain municipal improvement, to-wit, to acquire, own, construct, maintain, and operate upon the water front of the City of Huntington Beach between the Southerly extension of the Easterly and Westerly side property lines of Main Street in said City, and extending into the Pacific Ocean from the bluff along the coast line of said city and at said point, a wharf, together with the nec- essary approaches to connect the same with the main land at that point, and together with necessary landing places for ships and shipping. Section 2. That the place where said wharf is to be constructed, as described in Section 1 of this resolu- tion, is included within the corporate limits of the said City of Huntington Beach, and the ocean water at said point Res. 239 Page 2 is navigable, and the said water front between the said ex- • tended lines of said Main Street thereof is under the control and dominion of the said City of Rmtington, Beach, and the tidelands opposite said water front between said extended lines of Main Street are owned by the State of California, and controlled by the said City of Huntington Beach for wharfage purposes. Section 3 . That the estimated cost of said improve- ment is 70,000.00, and that the said cost of said improve- ment is and will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of said City. Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the pas- sage of this resolution and shall cause the same to be filed in his office, and shall copy the same at length into the minutes of this meeting. Section 5 . The City Clerk shall cause notices of the passage of this resolution to be published and printed once in the "Huntington Beach News'", which is a newspaper of general circulation printed and published less that six days a week, to-wit, weekly in the said City of Huntington Beach. Section 6. This resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption and passage by this Board and its approval by the Prsident of this Board of Trustees . • Res. 239 Page 3 Passed and adopted and approved this 10th day of February, 1912.
