RESOLUTION ORDERING THE WORK
NO. 228. "
RESOLVED, THAT WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the
City of Huntington Beach, California, did, on the 22d day of
December, 1913, pass its Resolution of Intention No. 225 to
order the hereinafter described work to be done and improve-
ment to be made in said city, which resolution of intention
vas duly and legally published as required by law, as appears
from the affidavit of L. P. Hart now on file in the office of
the City Clerk of said City; and
W1 EREAS, notices of the passage of said Resolution
of Intention No. 225 headed "NOTICE OF Ii..�PROVEI}"ENT" were duly
and legally posted along the line of said contemplated work
and improvement and in front of all the property liable to be
assessed therefor, in form and manner as required by law, as
appears from the affidavit of E. L. Vincent, Street Superin-
tendent of said City, who , upon the completion of the posting
of said notices forthwith filed said affidavit in the office
of the City Clerk of said City -making oath that he completed
the posting of said notices on the 2d day of January, 1914; end
>'HEREAS, more than fifteen (15) days have expired
since the date of the second publication of said Resolution of
Intention No. 225 and the completion of the posting of said
notices of improvement; therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the public interest and convenience
require the work herein described, and the Board of Trustees •

of the City of Huntington Beach hereby orders the following
work to be done in said City, to wit:
(a) That Seventeenth Street from the North city boundary
(the center of Clay Street) to Delaware Avenue; and Delaware
Avenue from Seventeenth Street to Frankfort Street; and
Frankfort Street from Delaware Avenue to Alabama Avenue; and
Alabama Avenue from Frankfort Street to Acacia Avenue; and
Acacia Avenue from Alabama Avenue to the right of way of the
Southern Pacific Railway Company, be paved, guttered, crowned,
graded, capped and oiled to the official grade thereof in ac-
cordance with Specifications No . 7 as provided in Ordinance No.
113 of said city, and in accordance with Plans Nos. 100 and 101.
(b) That Atlanta Street from the track of the Los Angeles
Inter-Urban Railway Company to the east line of Lake Avenue be
paved, improved and constructed to the official grade thereof
in accordance with Specifications No. 6 as provided in Ord-
inance No. 111 of said city, and in accordance with Plans Nos.
100 and 101 , all of which said specifications and plans are on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Hunt-
ington Beach.
The Board of Trustees of said City of Huntington
Beach hereby further resolve and determine that serial bonds
shall be issued to represent assessments of Twenty-five
Dollars ( $25.00) or over for the cost and expense of said
work and improvement; said serial bonds shall extend over a.
period of nine (9) years from the second of January next suc- _
seeding their date, ' and an even annual proportion of the grin-

•cipal sum thereof shell be payable by coupons on the second
day of January every year after their date until the whole
is paid, and the interest shall be payable se-ni-annually by
coupon on the second days of January and July, respectively,
of each year, at the rate of six (6%) per cent. per annum, on
all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest
are paid.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to post a notice
of said work together with the plans and specifications
therefor, conspicuously five (6) days on or near the council
chamber door, to wit: the door of the City Hall of the said
City of Huntington Beach inviting sealed proposals or bids
for doing the work ordered. He is also directed to publish
a notice inviting such proposals and referring to the plans,
profiles and specifications posted or on file in the Hunt-
ington Beach News a weekly newspaper published and circulated
in said city, and hereby designated for that purpose.
The 23d day of 111arch, 1914,. is hereby designated and
fixed as the day on which, up to the hour of seven thirty
ol clock P. M. , the said proposals or bids shall be received
and said notice shall so snecify.
