RESOLUTION ORDERING THE WORK, NO. 252.-A'
Resolved, That whereas; the Board of Trustees of the
City of Huntington Beach did on the 3rd. day of August,
1914, pass and adopt its Resolution of Intention, No. 249,
to order the hereinafter work to be done and improvement to
be made in said City of Huntington Beach, which Resolution
of Intention was duly and legally published, as required by
law, and as appears by the affidavit of James- J. Conrad, now
on -file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Hunt-
ington Beach, the said Resolution of Intention having been
published in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper
of general circulation, printed, published and circulated
in said City of Huntington Beach, on the 7th. day of August
1914, and on the 14th. day of August, 1914; and whereas im-
mediately after the adoption of said Resolution of Intention,
No. 249, notices of the passage of said Resolution of Inten-
tion, No. 249, headed "Notice of Improvement" were duly and
legally posted by the Street Superintendent in said City
along the line of said contemplated work and improvement,
in front of all the property liable to be assessed there-
for, not more than 300 feet in distance apart and not less
than three in all, and along all the Streets within the dis-
trict mentioned and described in said Resolution of Intention,
and not less than three in all on each Street in said Dist-
rict, as appears by the affidavit of John Tinsley, Street
Superintendent of said City, now on file with the City Clerk
of said City; and whereas, immediately upon the completion
of the posting of said notices, said Street Superintendent

filed said affidavit of posting in the office of said
City Clerk making oath that he completed the posting of
said notices on the 12th. day of August, 1914; and whereas,
more than fifteen days have expired since the date of the
second publication of said Resolution of Intention, No.249,
and since the completion of the posting of said "Notice of
Improvement" , and no protests have been delivered to the
Clerk of said Board of Trustees of said City against the
proposed work, or against :theextent of the District to be
assessed, or against both; and whereas, the said Board of
Trustees of said City has acquired jurisdiction to order
the proposed work_ and improvements; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the public interest and conven-
ience require tie work herein described, and the Board of
Trustees of said City of Huntington Beach hereby orders
the following described work to be done and improvement
to be made in said City of Huntington Beach, to-wit:
That Seventeenth Street from the north city boundary
(to-wit, the center of Clay Street ) to the westerly bound-
ary of Delaware Avenur; and Delaware Avenue from the south-
erly boundary of Seventeenth Street to the south boundary
of Frankfort Street; and Frankfort Street from the west
boundary of Delaware Avenue to the east boundary of Ala-
bama Avenue; and Alabama Avenue from the north boundary
of Acacia. Avenue to the north boundary of Atl anti, Street,
(excepting therefrom the portion of Alabama Avenue between
the south boundary of Frankfort Street and the north bound-

ary of Atlanta. Street, all of which heretofore has been
worked and im-Droved to the official grade) ; and Acacia Ave-

enue from the west boundary of Alabama Avenue to the
right of way of the Southern Pacific Railway Company, be
paved, guttered, crowned, graded, capped, oiled, improv-
ed and constructed to the official grade thereof in accord-
ance with specifications No. 8, as provided in Ordinance
No. 123 of said City, and in accordance with plans Nos.100
and 101 , all of which said specifications and plans are now
on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of
Huntington Bea,cli, and are hereby referred to for a more
particular description of said work and improvements.
That Atlanta Street from the right of way of the Los
Angeles Inter Urban Railway Company to the right of wal of
the Southern Pacific Railway Company, be paved, improved
and constructed to the official grade thereof , in accord-
ance with Specificiations No. 6 as provided in Ordinance
No. 111 of said City, and in accordance with Plans Nos.100
and 101. All of which said specifications and plans are on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Hunt--,
inton Beach, and are hereby referred to for further and more
particular description of said work and improvements.
That corrugated iron culverts be constructed
across and in the aforesaid Streets at the places shown on
and in accordance with the said plans and specifications here-
inbefore mentioned end referred to, which plans and specifi-
cations are hereby referred to for a more particular descrip-
tion of said work and the location of said culverts.
That said Board of Trustees do hereby determine
and declare that said 'proposed work and improvement is more
than local or ordinary public benefit and will affect and
benefit the lands and district hereinafter described and •
which said district is hereby declared to be the district
affected amd benefited by said work and improvement and
that therefore the entire cost and expenses of said work
and improvement shall be and are hereby made chargeable
against and shall be assessable upon said lands and dist-
rict, which district is within the City of Huntington Beach,
County of Orange, State of California, and the exterior
boundaries of the lands affected and benefited by said work
exclusive of said strip of land sought to be improved, and
exclusive of any land within said boundaries which is now
past of the public streets, is particularly described as
follows, to-wit;
Beginning at the point of intersection of the North
City Boundary line with the quarter section line running
North and South throught Sections Two (2) and Eleven (11) ,
Township 6 South, Range 11 Vest, S.B.B.& M. ; and running
thence Easterly along the North city boundary line to a
point on the Easterly line of Section Two (2) , Township 6
Such, Range 11 West, S.B.B.& M. ; running thence Southerly
along t're East city boundary line 1320 feet to a, point;
thence Easterly along the city boundary line 1188 feet
more or less to a point; thence in a general soutI-erly di-
rection, following all the different courses of the Easter-
ly city boundary line with the average high tide line of
the Pacific Ocean; thence Northwesterly along the average
high tide line of the Pacific Ocean to its intersection

with the quarter section line runt ng North and South
through Sections Two (2) and Eleven (11) , Township 6
South, Range 11 West, B.B.B. & M; thence Northerly along
the last described line to the point of beginning.
The Board of Trustees of said City of Huntington
Beach hereby further resolve and determine that serial
bonds shall be issued to represent assessments of Twenty-
five Dollars ( 25.00) or over for the cost and expense
of said work_ and improvement; said serial bonds shall
extend over a period of nine (9) years from the second
of January next succeeding their date, and an even annual
proportion of the principal suim thereof shall be payable
by coupons on the second day of January every year after
their date until t-^e whole is paid, and the interest shall
be payable semi-annually by coupon on the second days of
January and July, respectively, of each year, at the rate
of seven (7) percent, per annum, on all sums unpaid until
the whole of said principal and interest are paid.
All work shall be done in accordance with the said
plsns and specifications heretofore adopted for doing said
work now on file in the office of the said City Engineer
of said City.
All of the herein proposed work shall be done in pur-
suance of an act of the Legislature of the State of Calif-
ornia designated as the "Improvement Act of 1911" approved
April 7 , 1911.

The City Clerk of said City of Huntington Beach is
hereby directed to cause to be posted a notice of said
work together with the plans and specifications therefore,
conspicuously, for fire days on or near the Counsel. Chamb-
er Door of said Counsel , to-rai.t: the front door of the City
Hall in said City of Huntington Beach inviting sealed pro-
posals or bids for doing the work ordered, and tb. cause to
be published twice in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly
newspaper published in said City of Huntington Beach, a-
notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing the
said work ordered, and said Huntington Beach News is here-
by designated as the newspaper in which said notice shall
be published; that the time fixed in said notice for the
opening of bids shall be not less than ten days from the
time of the first publication or posting of said notice,
and all of said notices shall be in compliance with the
requirements of the Improvement Act of 1911.
