HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 253A i RESOLUTION OF AWARD No. 253.-0 Resolved, that the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach, having in open session on the 28th. day of September, 1914, opened, examined and publicly declared all sealed proposals or bids offered for the following work, to-Wit:- hereby .-rejects all of said bids except that next here- in rmentioned, and hereby awards the contract for said work to the lowest regular responsible bidder, to-wit: to Pierson and Anderson, at the prices specified in their proposal on file for said work, to-wit:- Grading complete, @.1385 per sq. ft. 400.00 for Culvert Complete, and $2. 55 per lineal f t. for Atlanta St. The Clerk of this Board is hereby directed to post notice of this award conspiciously for fire days, on or near the Council Chamber door, of this Board, and publish said notice once in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in this City, and hereby designated for that purpose. That Seventeenth Street from the North City Bound- ary (to-wit: the center of Clay Street) to the westerly boundary of Delaware Avenue, Delaware Avenue from the south- erly boundary of Seventeenth Street to the south boundary of Frankfort Street, Frankfort Street from the west boundary of Delaware Avenue to the east boundary of Alabama Avenue, Ala- bama Avenue from the north boundary of Acacia Avenue to the north boundary of Atlanta Street, (excepting therefrom the portion of Alabama Avenue between the south boundary of Frank- fort Street to the nortb boundary of Atlanta Street, all of which has heretofore been worked and improved to the offic- ial grade) and Acacia Avenue from the west boundary of Ala- bama Avenue to the right of way of the Southern Pacific Rail- way Company, be paved, guttered, crowned, graded, capped, oiled, improved and constructed to the official grade there- of in accordance with specifications No.8, as provided in Ordinance No. 125 of said City, and in accordance with plans No 's 100 and 101 all of which said specifications and plans are now on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Huntington Beach, and are hereby referred to for a. -2.. r • more particular description of said work and improvement. (b) That Atlanta Street from the right of way of the Los Angeles Interurban Railway Company to the right of way of the Southern Pacific Railway Company be paved, improved and constructed to the official grade thereof, in accord- ance with specifications No. 6 as provided in Ordinance No. 111 of said City and in accordance with plans No ' s 100 and 101 , all of which specifications and plans are on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Huntington Beach and are hereby referred to for further and more par- ticular description of said work and improvement. (c) That corrugated iron culverts be constructed across and in the aforesaid streets at the places shown on and in accordance with plans and specifications hereinbefore men- tioned and referred to , which plans and specifications are hereby referred to for a more particular description of said work and the location of said culverts. Sec. 2, That said Board of Trustees do hereby determine and declare that said proposed work and improvement is of more than local or ordinary public benefit and will affect and benefit the lands and district hereinafter described and which acid district is hereby declared to be the dist- rict affected and benefitted by said work and improvement and that theref pre the entire cost and expense of said work and improvement shall be and are hereby made chargeable against and shall be a>cc-ssable upon said lands and district, which district is within the city of Huntington Beach,County of Orange, State of California, and the exterior boundaries of the lands affected and benefitted by said work, exclusive -3- • of said strip of land sought to be improved, and exclu- • sive of any land within said boundaries which is now part of the public streets, is particularly described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at the point of intersection of the North City boundary line with the quarter section line running North and Szuth through Section Two (2) and eleven (11) , Township 6 South, Range 11 West, S.B.B &M. and running thence easterly along the North City boundary line to a point on the easterly line of Section Two (2) , Township 6 Sout#, Range 11 West S.B.B. &M. Running thence Souther- ly along the Kkst -City boundary line 1320 Ft. to a point, thence easterly along the city boundary line 1188 feet more or less to a point thence in a general southerly direction following all the different course= of the East- erly ci�7 wroundar - to the intersection of the Easterly City boundary line with' the average high tide line of the Pacific Ocean, thence north-westerly along the average high tide line of the Pacific Ocean to its inter -section with the quarter sestion line running Norte and South through Sections Two (2) and Eleven (11) , Township 6 South, Range 11 West, S.B.B.& M. thence northerly along the last described line to the point of beginning. Sec. s, The Board of Trustees of the said City of Hunt- ington Beach hereby f order resolve and determine that serial bonds whall be issued to represent assessments of Twenty-five Dollars, ($25.00) or over for the cost and expense of said work and improvement, said serial bonds shall extend over a period of nine (9) years from the second of January next succeeding their date and an even annual propoertion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupons on the second day of January every year after their date until the whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi- annually by coupon on the second days of January and July, respectively, 6f eat year, at the rate of seven percent (7.%) per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest are paid. See. 4, All the work shall be done in accordance with the said plans and specificiations heretofore adopted for doing said work now on file in the office of the said City Engi- neer of said pity, hereby rejects all of said bids, except that next herein mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for said work to the lowest regular responsible bidder, to- wit, to Pearson and Anderson, at the prices specified in their proposal on file for said work, to-wit: for Grading and Paving, .1385 per square foot , for Culvert complete $400.00 and for improving Atlanta Street $2. 55 per lineal foot.
