Canvass and return of the vote cast at the General Biennial 10 municipal election held April ,,74?', 1916, in the City of Huntington Beach, California, for the purpose of electing municipal officers. Whereas, a General municipal election washeld in the city of Huntington Beach, state of California on Monday the 19th day of April, 1916, for the purpose of electing Three members of the Board of Trustees for the term of four years, a Clerk and ex-officio ' assessor and a Treasurer for the term of Two years. And Whereas, it appears that said election was held and conducted in accordance with the General election Laws of the State, so far as the same were applicable; and that the Board i of Trustees gave such notice of election as prescribed by law I and ordinance, and appointed a board of election, fixed their i compensation and established an election precinct and polling place; and that such election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat were received and canvassed and returns thereon made in time, form and manner as required by law. And Whereas, the Board of Trustees did meet on this, the seventeenth day of April, 1916, being the Monday next succeeding the date of said General Election for the purpose of canvassing the vote cast thereat, whereupon it was found that the vote cast at said General Municipal Election in the precinct established then& for was asp-,follows : Total vote cast in said city . . . . . . 636 The total vote cast in said city for R. A.Moore as City Treasurer. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 279 And the Board of Trustees having completed their work of canvassing the returns of said general biennial municipal election of said city held on the Tenth day of April 1916, finds and declares as follows : 1. That the whole number of votes case in the city of Huntington Beach, California, at said general biennial municipal elec- /0 tion held on the ., th of April, 1916 was 636. �. That the names of the persons voted for, the offices to fill which each person was voted for are as follows, to-wit: That the following named persons were voted for to fill three vacancies upon said Board of Trustees of said city, to-wit: R. H. Chapin, H. C. Decker, E. E . French, M. E. Helme, L. Obarr, and L. T. Young. That the following named persons were voted for to fill the office of City Clerk of said city, to-wit : Chas R. Nutt, and H. T. Sundbye. That the following named persons were voted for to fill the office of Treasurer of said City, to-wit: C.E. Lavering and S.A. Moore. 2. �ti y AND WHEREAS, it appears from: the above canvass of the votes cast at said general biennial municipal election, that the persons next herein named received a majority of all the votes cast thereat for the respective offices mentioned, Now Therefore IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, determined and declared by the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach, California, that at the General Municipal election held in said city on Monday the lath day of April, 1916, the persons elected to the respective offices for the terms stated and until their successors are duly elected and qualified, are as follows : M.E. Helme as Trustee for the term of Four Years. H. C. Decker as Trustee for the term of Four Years . R. H. Chapin for Trustee for the term of Four years . Chas R. Nutt, as City Clerk for the term of Two years . C. E. Lavering as City Treasurer for the term of Two Years. The Clerk and Treasurer, respectively, before entering upon the duties of their respective offices , shall execute a bond to the City of Huntington Beach, in such sum as required by Ordinance, which bond shall be approved by the board of Trustees and filed with the Clerk the bond of thefiled Clerk shall a 1 b e le with the President of the Board. All newly elected officers before 'entering upon the duties of the office to which they have been elected shall take and subscribe to the constitutional oath of office and file the same with the Clerk. Nutt, City Clerk and ex-officio Clerk of the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach, California, do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution of Canvass and return, was read to the Board of Trustees of the City of Hunting- ton Beach on the 17th day of April, 1016, and that the same was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of said Board held on the above date by the following vote: Ayes -- Trustees - Helme , Tarbox, Huston, French.
