RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEAM; CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THEIR INTENTION TO
IMPROVE A PORTION OF OCEAN AVENUE, IN THE CITY OF HUNTIN9Y
TON BEACH, AND DETERMINING THAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO
REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF AND DECLARING SAID WORK OF IML
PROVE2j.ENT TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT,
AND THAT THE COST AND EXPENSE OF SAID WORK SHALL BE ASSESSED
UPON A DISTRICT.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the City
-,of Huntington Beach:
Section 1. That the public interest and oanvenience
require and that it is the intention of the Board of Trust-
ees of the City of Huntington Beach to order the following
work to be done, to-wit:
1st. That Ocean Avenue in said city from the North-
westerly property line of First Street to the Southeaster-
ly property line of Twentythird Street be graded to the of-,
ficial grade thereof and the roadway space thereof be paved
with a concrete base and asphaltic oil wearing surface in
accordance with Specifications No. 16 on file in the office
of the City Clerk of said city and in accordance with plans,
profiles and cross-sections for said work No. 138 and No. 119
on file in the office of the City Engineer of said city.
2nd. That corrugated Iron ctiverts be constructed across
and in the above described portion of Ocean Avenue, in accord-
ance with Specifications No. 16 and at the places as shown on
and in accordance with said plans, profiles and cross-sections
No. 138 and No. 119.
3rd. That thirty concrete catch basins be constructed
in and along the above described portion of Ocean Avenue, in
accordance with said Specifications No. 16 and in accordance
with said plans, profiles and cross-sections No. 138 and No.
118, and at the places shown upon said plans.
4th. That cement concrete curbs be built and construct-
ed tea the official line and grade in and along the Southwest-
erly side of the above described portion of Ocean Avenue, in
cluding curb returns at street intersections , except where a
concrete curb has already been constructed and now is to the
official line and grade. All to be in accordance with the
Specifications No. 16 and as shown upon plans, profiles and
cross-sections No. 138 and No. 119.
5th. That cement concrete curbs be constructed in Ocean
Avenue from the Northwesterly property line of First Street to
the Southeasterly property line of Twentythird Street so as to
surround and abut upon parkway spaces which extent 71 feet on
e4ch side of the center line of said Ocean Avenue between the
aforesaid limits except at those places included within the
produced side lines of intersecting streets. Each end of each
of said parkway spaces shall meet the nearest produced side
line of the intersecting street on a curve, the radius of
which curve is 71 feet and the radial point of which is with-
in the parkway space, is or -;the center line of said Ocean Ave-
nue and is 71 feet distant from the said nearest produced
property line; all to be in accordance with said Specifications
No. 16 and the said plans, profiles and cross-sections No.138
and No. 119.

6th. That reinforced concrete gas lighting posts
fitted with gas lamps, brackets, regulators, all accessory
fixtures thereto together with the construction and install-
ment of iron pipe conduits to deliver gas to the posts, and
all accessory fixtures thereto be constructed, erected and
installed in and upon Ocean Avenue from Twentythird Street to
First Street, in accordance with said Specifications No. 16
and at the places and in the manner shown on and in accord-
ance with plans, profiles and cross-sections for said work,
No .138, No. 115 and No. 117.
Section 2. The plans, profiles and cross-sections re-
ferred to in this resolution are on file in the office of the
City Engineer of said city. The specifications referred to
in this resolution are on file in the oe'fice of the City Clerk
of s=?id city. Said plans, profiles, cross-sections and speci-
fica Lions are hereby referred to for the more particular des-
cription of said work_ and made a part hereof.
Section 3. That the said contemplated work of improve-
ment in the opinion of said Board of Trustees is of more than
local or ordinary public benefit, and said Board of Trustees
hereby declares that the district in the said city of Hunting-
ton Beach to be benefited by said work of improvement and to
be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof is hereby
described as follows: All that portion of the City of Hunt-
ington Beach included within the following described exterior
boundary line, to-wit:

Beginning at the intersection of the Southeasterly
property line of Twentythird Street with the Norhteasterly
property line of Ocean Avenue, running thence Northeasterly
along the Southeasterly line of Twentythird Street, a dist-
ance of one hundred sixty-three (1 63) feet; thence South -
ea,sterly on a line parallel with the Northeasterly line of
Ocean Avenue to the Northwesterly line of Eleventh Street;
thence in a straight line to a point on the Southeasterly
line of Eleventh Street, which point is one hundred seventy-
one and five tenths (1?1. 5) feet Northeasterly from the
Northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue measured along the South-
easterly line of Eleventh Street ; thence Southeasterly in a
straight line to a point on the Northwesterly line of Tenth
Street one hundred seventy-one and five tenths (171 4 feet
Northeasterly from the Northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue,
measured along the Northwesterly line of Tenth Street; thence
in a straight line to a_ point on the Southeasterly line of
Tenth Street, which point is one hundred seventy-three and
five tenths (173. 5) feet Northeasterly from the Northeasterly
line of Ocean Avenue, measured along the Southeasterly line
of Tenth Street; thence in a straight line to a point on the
Northwesterly line of Ninth Street , which point is one hund-
red eighty and five tenths (180. 5) feet Northeasterly from
the Northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue, measured along the
Northwesterly line of Ninth Street ; thence in a straight line
to a point on the Southeasterly line of Ninth Street, which
point is one hundred eighty-two and five tenths (182. 5) feet

Northeasterly from the Northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue,
measured along the Southeasterly line of Ninth Street; thence
on a straight line parallel witn t -e Northeasterly line of
Ocean Avenue to the Northwesterly line of First Street , thence
Southwesterly along the Northwesterly line of First Street and
the Northwesterly line of First Street produced to a point
which is three hundred (300) feet Southwesterly from the North-
easterly line of Ocean Avenue, measured along the produced
Northwesterly line of First Street ; thence Northwesterly in
a straight line to a. point in the produced Northwesterly line
of Fifth Street wliich is three hundred forty-five (345) feet
Southwesterly from Vrie Northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue,
measured along the produced Northwesterly line of Fifth Street;
thence Northwesterly in a straight line to a point in the -
produced Northwesterly line of Sixth Street which is three
huhdred forth-five (345) feet Southwesterly from the North-
easterly line of Ocean Avenue, measured along the produced
Northwesterly line of Sixth Street; thence Northwesterly in
a straight line to a point in the produced Northwesterly line
of Ninth Street which is two hundred thirty-five (235) feet
Southwesterly from the Northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue,
measured along the produced Northwesterly line of Ninth St-
reet; thence Northwesterly in a. straight line to a point in
the produced Northwesterly line of Thirteenth Street which is
two hundred ten (210) feet Southwesterly from the Northeast-
erly line of Ocean Avenue, measured along the produced North-
westerly line of Thirteenth Street; thence Northwesterly in

a straight line to a point in the produced Northwesterly
line of Nineteenth Street which is two-hundred fifty-two
(252) feet Southwesterly from the Northeasterly line, of
Ocean Avenue, measured along the produced Northwesterly
line of Nineteenth Street; thence Northwesterly- in a straight
line to a point in the produced Southeasterly line of
Twentythird Street which is two hundred eight-five (285)
feet Southwesterly from t'�e Northeasterly line of Ocean
Avenue, measured along the Southeasterly line produced of
Twentythird Street, thence Northeasterly along the Produced
Southeasterly line of Twentythird Street to the point of
beginning, excepting therefrom any portion of any public
street or alley which may be included within the above des-
cribed district.
Section 4. That serial bonds shall be issued to rep-
resent assessments of twenty-five (25.00) dollars, or over,
for the cost of said work of improvement; said serial bonds
shall extend over a period of nine years from and after the
2nd. day of January next succeeding their date, and an even
annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be pay-
able by coupon, on the second day of January every year after
t>eir date until the whole is paid; and the interest shall
be payable semi-annually by coupon, on the second days of
January and July respectively, of each year, at the rate of
seven (7) per cent per a.nnum on all sums unpaid, until the
whole of said principal and interest is paid.
The bonds herein. provided for shall be issued, and the

proceedings herein provided for shall be had under and in
accordance with an Act of the Legislature of the State of
California., designated as the " Improvement Act of 1911" ,
approved April 7th, 1911 , and of all acts supplementary
thereto and amendatory thereof.
Section 5. Notice is hereby given that on Thursday the
4th. day of January, 1917 , at the hour of 7: 30 P.IVI. in the
Council Chambers of the Board of Trustees of the City of
-Euntington Beach, at the City Hall of said City, located din
Fifth Street between Walnut and Olive Avenues of said City,
any and all persons having objections to the said proposed
work of improvement may appear before the said Board of
Trustees and snow cause why said proposed improvement should
not be carried out in accordance with this resolution.
Section 6. The City Engineer shall make a, diagram of
the property affected or benefited by the proposed work of
improvement, as hereinbefore described, and to be assessed
to pay the cost and expenses thereof ; such diagram shall
show each separate lot , piece or parcel of land, the area
in square feet of each of said lots, pieces or parcels of
land and the relative location of the same to the work pro-
�osed to be done, all within the limits of the assessment
district.
Section 7. The Superintendent of Streets shall post
notices of this work as required by law.
Secticnr8. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this resolution and shall cause the same to be nubliehed

twice in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper pub-
lished and circulatec; in the City of. Huntington Beach.
The foregoing Resolution of. Intention is signed and
approved and attested by me this 18th. day of December, 1916.
