RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach, having in open session on the 7th. day of May, 1917 , opened, examined and publicly declared all sealed proposals or bids offered for the following work, to-wit: That reinforced concrete gas lighting Dosts fitted with gas lamps, brackets, regulators, all accessory fixtures there- to, together with the construction and installation of iron pipe conduits to deliver gas to the posts, and all accessory fixtures thereto be constructed, erected and installed in, under and upon Main Street, and in, under and upon the park- way spaces in the center of Main Street , from the center line of Summit Avenue, (formerly Clay Street) , the north city bound- ary line, to the Southwesterly line of Ocean Avenue in the City of Huntington Beach in accordance with Specifications No. 17 , and at the places and in the manner shown on and in accordance with plans and cross-sections for said work No. 140, No. 115, and No. 117. The plans and cross-sections referred to in this resolu- tion are on file in the office of the City Engineer of said city. The specifications referred to in this resolution are on file in' the office of the City Clerk of said city. Said plans, cross-sections and specifications are hereby referred to for the more particular description of said work and made a part hereof, -1- For which work serial bonds shall be issued to represent assessments of twenty-five ($25.00) dollars, or over, for the cost of said work of improvement ; that said serial bonds shall extend over a period of nine years from and after the 2nd. day ofiZanuary next succeeding their date, and an even annual pro- portion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable, by coupon, on the 2nd. day of January every year after their date until the whole is paid; and the interest shall be payable semi- annually, by coupon, on the 2nd. days of January and July, re- spectively, of each year, at the rate of seven (7) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid,until the whole of said principal and interest is paid. The bonds herein provided for shall be issued, and the proceedings herein provided for shall be had under and in ac- cordance with an Act of the Legislature of the State of Cal- ifornia, designated as the "Improvement Act of 1911" , approved April 7, 1911 , and of all acts supplementary thereto and amen- datory thereof. That it was determined in Resolution of Intention No. 310 of the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach, adopted and approved March 26th, 1917, and to which reference is hereby made for a description of the work and the district to be assessed that the said contemplated work of improvement, in the opinion of said Board of Trustees, is of more than local or ordinary public benefit, and said Board of Trustees hereby declares that the district in the said City of Huntington Beach to be benefited by spid work of improvement and to be assessed -2- • to pay the costs and expenses thereof is hereby decribed as follows: All that portion of the City of Hunting Beach included within the following described exterior boundary lines, to-wit: Beginning at a. Doint on the Southwesterly line of Ocean Avenue, which point is in the produced Southeasterly line of the first alley Northwesterly from Main Street, and running thence Northeasterly along the Southeasterly line of the first alley Northwesterly from Main Street and along said alley line produced to its intersection with the Southeasterly line of Fifth Street, thence in a. straight line to the point of inter— section of the Southwesterly line of Magnolia Avenue with the Northwesterly line of Fifth Street, thence Northwesterly in a straight line to the point of Intersection of the Northeaster- ly line of Magnolia Avenue with the Easterly line of the first alley Westerly from 1,11ain Street, thence Northerly along the Easterly line of the first alley Westerly from Main Street to the point of intersection of said last mentioned alley line with the Southeasterly line of Sixth Street, thence Northeasterly in a straight line to a point on the Northwesterly line of Sixth Street, which point is fifty (50) feet Southwesterly from the Southwesterly line of Sixth Street, thence Northwesterly in a straig'!.-.-t line, which lite is fifty (50) feet Southwesterly from and parallel to the Southwesterly line of Acacia Avenue to a point on the Southeasterly line of the first alley North- westerly from Sixth Street, thence Northeasterly along said -3- last mentioned alley line to a point on the Southwesterly line of Acacia Avenue, thence Northeasterly in a straight line to the plint of intersection of the Northeasterly line of Acacia Avenue with the Easterly line of the first alley Westerly from Main Street , thence Northerly along the East- erly line of the first alley Westerly from Main Street to the point of intersection of said last mentioned alley line with the Southeasterly line of Seventh Street, thence Noreasterly in a straight line to a point on the Northwesterly line of Seventh Street, which point is fifty (50) feet Southwester- ly from the Southwesterly line of Palm Avenue measured along the Northwesterly line of Seventh Street, thence Northwest- erly in a, straight line, which line is fifty ( 50) feet South- westerly from and parallel to the Southwesterly line of Pala Avenue to a- point on the Southeasterly line of the first alley Northwesterly from Seventh Street, thence Northeasterly Aong said last mentioned alley line to g point on tAe Southwester- ly line of Palm Avenue, thence Northwesterly in a, straight line to the point of intersection of the Northeasterly line bf Palm Avenue with the Northeasterly line of the first alley South- westerly from Main Street, thence Northwesterly along the said mentioned alley line to its point of intersection with the South- easterly line of the first alley Southeasterly from Crest Ave- nue, thence Westerly in a straight line to the Southwesterly corner of Lot No. 49 of Block 706 of the Wesley Park Tract in the City of Huntington Beach as shown on the map of said tract, -4- recorded on page 16 of book 4, Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California, thence Northeasterly along the Westerly line of said Lot No. 49 to a point on the Southerly line of Crest Avenue, thence Northwesterly in a straight line to the point of intersection of the Northerly line of Crest Avenue with the Northeasterly line of the first alley South- westerly from P'?ain Street, thence Northwesterly along the last mentioned alley line to its point of intersection with the South- easterly line 6f Fourteenth Street, thence Northwesterly in a straight line to the Southeasterly corner of Lot No. 45 of Block 915 of the Wesley Heights Tract in the City of Hunting- ton Beach as shown on the map of said tract, recorded on page 23 of book 4, 11iscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California, thence Northwesterly along the Southwesterly line of said Lot No. 45 to a point on the Southeasterly line of the ' first alley Northwesterly from Fourteenth Street, thence North- easterly along said last mentioned alley line to a point on the Southwesterly line of Wesley Avenue, thence Northerly in a straig �t line to the point of intersection of the Northeaster- ly line of Wesley Avenue with the Westerly line of the first alley Westerly from Main Street , ,thence Northerly along said last mentioned alley line to a point on the Southeasterly line of Seventeenth Street, Southerly line of Union Avenue, thence Northerly along a line, which line is one hundred eighty-two and one tenth (182.1) feet Westerly from and parallel to the Westerly line of Main Street to a point on the center line of Summit Avenue, (for- merly Clay Street) , the north city boundary line, thence East- erly three hundred fifty (3550) feet along the center line of said Summit Avenue, the north city boundary line to a point, thence Southwesterly in a straight line to the Northeasterly corner of Lot No. 22 of Block 2600 of Tract No. 12 in the City of Huntington Beach as shown on the map of said tract recorded on page 13 of book 9 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California, thence Southerly along the Westerly line of the first alley Easterly from Main Street to a. point on the Northwesterly line of Seventeenth. Street, thence Southwesterly in a straight line to the point of intersection of the South- easterly line of Seventeenth Street with the Northerly line of Utica Street, thence Southeasterly in a straight line to the Point of intersection of the Southerly line of Utica Street with the Westerly line of the first alley Easterly from fain Street, thence Southerly along said last mentioned alley line -6- i to a point on the Northerly line of Loma Avenue, thence Southerly in a. stra.igAt line to the point of intersection of the Southerly line of Loma.. Hereby rejects all of the said bids except that next herein mentioned and hereby awards the contract for said work to the lowest regular resnonsibZe bidder, to-wit: Leigh G. Garnsey at the price specified in proposal on file for said work, to-wit: Thirteen thousand four hundred ninety seven and 50/100 Dollars. The City Clerk of said city is hereby directed to post notice of this award conspicuously for five days on or near the council chamber door of this Board of Trustees, and also publish=said notice once in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach, and hereby designated for -that purpose.
