A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DECLARING THEIR IN-
TENTION TO IMPROVE A PORTION OF FIRST STREET,
A PORTION OF SECOND STREET AND A PORTION OF
THIRD STREET IN THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
AND DETERXINING THAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED
TO REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF, AND DECLARING
SAID WORK OR I M?ROVEMENT TO BE OF MORE THAN
LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BElvEFIT, AND THAT
THE COST AND EXPENSE OF SAID WORK SHALL BE
ASSESSED UPON A DISTRICT.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the City
of Huntington Beach:
SECTION I. That the public interest and convenience
` require and that it is the intention of the Board of Trustees
of the City of Huntington Beach to order the following work
to be done, to-wit: -
That First Street from a line twenty (20) feet South-
westerly from and parallel to the Northeasterly line of Ocean
Avenue to a line ten (10) feet Northeasterly from and parallel
to the Southwesterly line of Olive Avenue, and that Second
°,Street from a line twenty (20) feet Southwesterly from and Para
]lel to the lbrtheastly line of Ocean Avenue to a line ten (10)
feet Northeasterly from and parallel to the Southwesterly line
of Olive Avenue, and that Third Street from a line twenty ( 24)
feet Southwesterly from and parallel to the Northeasterly line
of Ocean Avenue to a line ten (10) feet Northeasterly from and
parallel to the Southwesterly line of Olive Avenue be graded
to the official grade thereof, and be oiled in accordance with
Specifications No. 15 on file in the office of the City Clerk
of said City, and in accordance with plans, profiles and cross-
sections for said work No. 142 on file in theoffiee of the City
Engineer of said City.
SECTION 2. The plans, profiles and cross-sections
referred to in this Resolution are on file in the office of the
City Engineer of said City. The specifications referred to in
this Resolution are on file in the office of the City Clerk of
said City. Said plans, profiles, cross-sections and specifi-
cations are hereby referred to for the more particular descrip-
tion of said work and made a part hereof.
SECTION 3. That the said contemplated work of im-
provement in the opinion of said Board of Trustees is of more
than local or ordinary public benefit, and said Board of Trust-
ees hereby declares that the district in the said Citycf Hunt

ington Beach to be benefitted by said work of improvement and

to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof is hereby
described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the Southwesterly
line of Ocean Avenue with a line which is one hundred seven-
teen and five tenths (117.5) feet Southeasterly from and para-
llel to the Southeasterly line of First Street and running
thence Northwesterly along the Southwesterly line of Ocean Ave-
nue to its intersection with the Southeasterly line produced

of the first alley Northwesterly from Third Street and running
thence Northeasterly along the said last mentioned line produced
to its intersection with the Northeasterly line of Olive Avenue,
running thence Southeasterly along the Northeasterly line of
Olive Avenue produced to its intersection with a line whichis
one hundred seventeen and five tenths (117.5) feet Southeasterly
from and parallel to the Southeasterly line of First Street,
thence Southwesterly along a line one hundred seventeen and five
tenths (117.5) feet Southeasterly from and parallel to the
Southeasterly line of First Street to the point of beginning,
excepting therefrom any portion of any public street or alley
which may be included within the above described district.
SECTION 4. That serial bonds shall be issued to rep-
resent assessments of Twenty-five ( 25.00) Dollars, or over,
for the cost of said work of improvement; said serial bonds
shall extend over a period of nine (9) years from and after
the second day of January next succeeding their date, and an
even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be
payable, by coupon, on the second day of January every year
after their date until the whole is paid; and the interest
shall be payable semi-annually by coupon, on the second days
of January and July, respectively, of each year, at the zLte
of seven (7) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid, until the
whole of said principal and interest is paid.
The bonds herein provided for shall be issued, and
the proceedings herein provided for shall be had under and in

accordance with an Act of the Legislature of the State of Calif-
ornia, designated as the "Improvement Act of 19119 , approved
April 7th, 1911, and of all acts supplementary thereto and a-
mendatory thereof.
SECTION 5. Notice is hereby given that on the 24th
day of September , 1917, at the hour of eight P.M. in
the Council Chambers of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Huntington Beach, at the City Hall of said City, located on
Fifth Street between Walnut and Olive Avenues of said City, any
and all persons having objections to the said proposed work of
improvement may appear before the said Board of Trustees and
show cause why said proposed improvement should not be carried
out in accordance with this Resolution.
SECTION 6. The City Engineer shall make a diagram of
the property affected or benefitted by the proposed work of im-
provement, as hereinbefore described, and to be assessed to pay
the cost and expenses thereof. Such diagram shall show each
separate lot, piece or parcel of land, the area in square feet
of each of said lots, pieces or parcels of land and the rela-
tive location of the same to the work proposed to be done, all
within the limits of the assessment district.
SECTION 7. The Superintendent of Streets shall post
notices of this work as required by law.
SECTION S. The City Clerk shall certify to the pass-
age of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be published
twice in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper published
and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach.

The foregoing Resolution of :Intention is signed and
approved and attested by me this 5th day of September 1917,

adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington
Beach, at a regular session, held on Sept. 3rd , 1917, and the
