Resolution of the Board of
Trustees of Huntington Beach,
valifornia.
Vi'HEREAS, A public her-,ring; has been called by the United
States Engineer' s Office, to be held in Santa Ana, December 11,
1917, for the purpose of determining whether or not it is advis-
able for the United States to improve Newport Harbor, and

spent large surds of money in pro-,Deily laying; out Mans for the
work, and have voted $125,000. for improvement and are noir build-
ing a Jetty at the entrance of the bay, and are intending; to vote
50,000. for dredging of the bay, and
'i_;EREAS, Dredging of channels through the bay parallel to
the sand spit to a point near the Santa Ana high�ray on the harbor
lines nol,r established, and dyed-inJ through the bay parallel to the
mainland to a point near the highway brit_-fie on the S.f nta Ana River-
on the harbor lines now established, would be an imDrovernent that
would be vastly important, and all improvements thus made would
inure to the benefit of t .e general public and be commensurate
t--ith the cost thereof, and

Orange County has been qualified as a Harbor District and a Harbor
Com;,rission has been appointed, and such Corrrinission has made inves-
ti,, ation of the physice.2 possibility and the cormnercial advisabil-
ity of improving a harbor at IlTeirnort Bay, and has returned a report
recommending: that a, bond election be called for the voting; of
500,000.00 to be expended in this improvement , and
