A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, ORDER-
ING `THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE A LLEYS IN BLOCK
104, 204, AND 203 OF HUN'TINGTON BEACH, AND
THAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE
COST OF SAID IMPROVEMENT AND THAT THE COST
AND EXPENSE OF SAID WORK SHALL BE ASSESSED
UPON A DISTRICT.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the City
of Huntington Beach, California:
SECTION I. That the Street work herein described is
required by public interest and convenience and that the Board
of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach hereby orders the
following work to be done, to-wit:
(a) That the ALLEY in BLOCK 104 of Huntington Beach
running between Main Street and Fifth Street, as shown on the
Map of Huntington Beach recorded in Miscellaneous Maps Book 3,
page 36, Orange County Records, including all street inter-
sections, be graded to the official grade, and be paved with
hydraulic concrete base and oil and screenings wearing surface
in accordance with Plan and Profile No. 1006.
(b) That the ALLEY in BLOCK 104 of Huntington Beach
running northeasterly from an intersection with the Alley des-
cribed above to an intersection with the southwesterly line of
Walnut Avenue, and so shown on the Map of Huntington Beach a-
bove referred to, including all street intersections, be graded

to the official grade, and be paved with hydraulic concrete base
and oil and screenings wearing surface in accordance with Plan
and Profile No. 1006.
(c ) That the ALLEY in BLOCK 204 of Huntington Beach
running between Walnut Avenue and Olive Avenue, and so shown on
the Map of Huntington Beach above referred to, including all
street intersections be graded to the official grade and be
paved with hydraulic concrete base and oil and screenings wear-
ing surface in accordance with Plan and Profile No. 1006.
(d) That the ALLEY in BLOCK 203 of Huntington Beach
running between Walnut Avenue and Olive Avenue, and so shown on
the Map of Huntington Beach above referred to, including all
street intersections, be graded to the official grade and be
paved with hydraulic concrete base and oil and screenings wear-
ing surface in accordance with Plan andProfile No. 1006.
SECTION 2. That Cement Curbs be constructed at in-
tersections of the above described Alleys with the adjacent
streets and Cement Curb Returns be constructed at said inter-
sections where necessary to connect with existing curbs in
said adjacent streets, all in accordance with Plan and Profile
No. 1006
SECTION 3. The above described proposed work shall
be done in accordance with the following Specifications , which
are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Hunt-
ington Beach: Specifications No. S and the amendment thereto
as adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington

Beach by Ordinances Nos. 125 and 164, and being for the "grad-
ing and paving of streets" , Specifications No. 1 for the con-
struction of Cement Curbs; and shall also be done in accordance
with the above described Plan and Profile No. 1006, which is on
file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Hunting-
ton Beach; reference is hereby made to said Plan and Profile
and said Specifications for a more particular description of
the above described work.
SECTION 4. That the said contemplated work or im-
provement is, in the opinion of the Board of Trustees of more
than local or ordinary public benefit, and said Board of Trust-
ees hereby declares that the district in the City of Huntington
Beach to be benefitted by said work or improvement and to be
assessed to , pay the cost and expenses thereof, is described as
follows: All that portion of the City of Huntington Beach in-
cluded within the following boundary lines, to-wit: Commencing
at the intersection of the center line of Ocean Avenue with
the center line of Main Street, thence northeasterly in a
straight line to the intersection of said center line of Main
Street with the center line of Walnut Avenue; thence southeast-
erly in a straight line to the intersection of the center line
of Walnut Avenue with the center line of Third street; thence
northeasterly in a straight line to the intersection of the
center line of Third Street with the center line of Olive Avenue;
thence northwesterly in a straight line to the intersection of
the center line of Olive Avenue with .the center line of Fifth

Street; thence southwesterly in a straight line to the inter-
section of the center line of Fifth Street with the center line
of Ocean Avenue; thence southeasterly in a straight line to the
point of beginning; excepting therefrom any portion of any
street or alley which is included within the above described
district. This description is general only and reference is
hereby made to Hap No-. 1007 as approved by the Board of Trust-
ees of the City of Huntington Beach on the 9th day of February
1920, and on file in the office of the City Engineer of said
City, for a more complete and detailed description of said
district.
SECTION 5. The City Engineer is directed to make
a diagram of the property affected or benefitted by the pro-
posed work or improvement as described in this Resolution and
to be assessed to pay the expenses thereof. Such diagram shall
show each separate lot, piece or parcel of land, the area in
square feet of said lots, pieces or parcels of land, and the
relative location of the same to the work proposed to be done,
all within the limits of the:. assessment district.
SECTION 6. That the Board of Trustees determines
that serial bonds shall be issued to represent assessments of
Twenty-five ( $25.00) Dollars or over for the cost of said work
or improvement; said serial bonds shall extend over a period
ending nine (9) years from and after the second day of January
next succeeding the date of said bonds, and an even annual pro-
portion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable, by coupon,

on the second day of January every year after their date until
the whole is paid; and interest shall be paid semi-annually,
by coupon, on the second days of January and July, respectively,
of each year at the rate of seven (7) per cent per annum on all
sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest are
paid. Said bonds shall be issued in accordance with the pro-
visions of an act of the legislature of the State of California,
entitled "an act to provide a system of Street Improvement Bonds
tm represent certain assessment for the cost of Street Work and
Improvement within Municipalities and also for the payment of
said Bonds" , approved February 27, 1893, and of all acts sup-
plementary thereto or amendatory thereof.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post
and keep posted for a period of five days, on or near the en-
trance to the City Hall, a notice, with specifications, invi-
ting sealed proposals or bids for doing said .work, and he shall
also publish a notice of said work inviting sealed proposals
or bids for doing said work and referring tD the specifications
posted or on file by two insertions in the Huntington Beach
News. Said notice shall require a certified check or bond,
either, as prescribed by law, and for an amount not less than
ten per cent of the aggregate of the proposal.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the pas-
sage of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be pub-
lished by two insertions in the Huntington Beach News, and he
shall also post and keep posted, a printed copy of this

Resolution, for a period of two days, on or near the entrance
to the City Hall.
PASSED and adopted by- the Board of Trustees of the
City of Huntington Beach, California, and signed by the Presi-
dent thereof this nth day of April 1920.

certify that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and passed
and adopted by the Board of Trustees and signed by the presi-
dent thereof, and attested by the City Clerk, at a regular
meeting of said Board held on the 5th day of April, 1920,
and that the same was passed and adopted by the following vote:
