RESOLUTION
NO. 353
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF-
ORNIA, DECLARING THEIR INTENTION TO
ORDER THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN SANI-
TARY SEWERS IN THE DISTRICT BOUNDED BY
FIFTEENTH STREET AND TWENTY-THIRD STREET,
AND THE ALLEY LYING NORTHEASTERLY FROM
OCEAN AVENUE AND PALM AVENUE, AND DETER-
MINING THAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO
REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF AND DECLARING
THE WORK OR IMPROVEMENT TO BE OF MORE
THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT
AND THAT THE EXPENSE OF SAID IP70RK OR
IMPROVEMENT SHALL BE ASSESSED UPON A
DISTRICT.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the City
of Huntington Beach, California:
SECTION I . That public interest and convenience
require, and that it is the intention of the Board of Trust-
ees of the City of Huntington Beach, California, to order
the following work to be done in the City of Huntington Beach,
California, to-wit:
1. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
No. 15, with the necessary man-holes, flush-tank, cast-iron
frames and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed
in. the Alley between Fifteenth Street and Sixteenth Street,
in said City, from a connection with the Sanitary Sewer now
constructed in the Alley lying northeasterly from Ocean AveniB ,

in a northeasterly direction, on a line four and one-half
feet southeasterly from and parallel to the northwesterly
boundary line of said Alley between Fifteenth Street and
Sixteenth Street and the extension of said boundary line
across intersecting streets, to the center line of Palm Ave-
nue, as shown on Plan and Profile No. 1011, to which said
Plan and Profile reference is hereby made for a more parti-
cular description of the work.
2. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
No. 16, with the necessary man-holes, flush-tank, cast-iron
frames and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed
in the Alley between Sixteenth Street and Seventeenth Street
in said City, from a_ connection with the Sanitary Sewer now
constructed in the Alley lying northeasterly from Ocean Ave-
nue, in a northeasterly direction, on a line four and one-
half feet southeasterly from and parallel to the northwesterly
boundary line of said Alley between Sixteenth Street and
Seventeenth Street and the extension of said boundary line
across intersecting streets, to the center line of Palm Avenue,
as shown on Plan and Profile No. 1012, to which said Plan and
Profile reference is hereby made for a more particular des-
criDtion of the work.
3. That a. Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
No. 17, with the necessary man-holes, flush-tank, cast-iron
frames and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed
along the following described lines, to-wit.

Commencing a t a certain Junction Chamber in the
Senitary Sewer now constructed in the Alley lying northeast-
erly from Ocean Avenue, said Junction Chamber being four and
one-half feet southeasterly from the northwesterly boundary
line of the Alley between Seventeenth Street and Eighteenth
Street in said City, produced southwesterly, thence in a
northeasterly direction, on a line four and one-hFIf feet
southeasterly from and parallel to the northwesterly boundary
line of . said Alley between Seventeenth Street and Eighteenth
Street and the extension of said boundary line across inter-
secting streets to a point twenty and one-half feet south-
westerly from the southwesterly boundary line of Orange Avenue;
also, commencing at a. Junction Chamber to be constructed st
the intersection of the center line of Magnolia Avenue with
Lateral No. 18, hereinafter described; thence in a southeast-
erly direction along said center line of said Magnolia Avenue
to a point four and one-half feet southeasterly from the north-
westerly boundary line of the Alley between Seventeenth Street
and Eighteenth Street, in said City, produced southwesterly;
thence in P northeasterly direction, on a line four and.. one-
half feet southeasterly from and parallel to the northwesterly
boundary line of said Ally between Seventeenth Street and
Eighteenth Street and the extension of said boundary line
across intersecting Streets to the center line of Palm Avenue;
all, as shown on Plan and Profile Yo. 1013, to which said Plan
and Profile reference is hereby made for a more particular
description of the work.

Profile reference is hereby made for a more particular des-

6. That a, Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
No. 20, with the necessary manholes, flush-tank, cast-iron
frames and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed
in the Alley between Twentieth Street and Twenty-first Street,
in said City, from a connection with the Sanitary Serer now
constructed in "te Alley lying northeasterly from Ocean Avenue,
in Pt northeasterly direction, on a line four and one half
feet southeasterly from and parallel to the northwesterly
boundary line of said Alley between Twentieth Street and
Twenty-first Street and the extension of said boundary line
across intersecting streets to the center line of Palm Avenue,
as shown on Plan and Profile No. 1016, to which said Plan and
Profile reference is hereby made for a more particular des-
cription of the work.
7. That R Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
No. 21, with the necessary manholes, flush-tank, cast-iron
frames and covers, chimneys, and "Y" junctions be constructed
in the Alley between Twenty-first Street and Twenty-second
Street, in said City, from a connection with the Sanitary
Sewer now constructed in the Alley lying northeasterly from
Ocean Avenue, in R northeasterly direction on aline four and
one half feet southeasterly from and parallel to the north-
westerly boundary line of said Alley between Twenty-first
Street and Twenty-second Street and the extension of said
boundary line across intersecting streets to the center line
of Palm Avenue, as shown on Plan and Profile No. 1017, to
which said Plan and Profile reference is hereby made for a.
more particular description of the work.
8. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
No. 22, with the necessary manholes, flush-tank, cast-iron
frames and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed
in the Alley between Twenty-second Street and Twenty-third
Street, in said City, from a connection with the Sanitary
Sewer now constructed in a portion of the southwesterly end
of said Alley, in a northeasterly direction, on a line four
and one half feet southeasterly from and parallel to the
northwesterly boundary line of said Alley between Twenty-
second Street and Twenty-third Street and the extension of
said boundary line across intersecting streets to the center
line of Palm Avenue, ,- s shown on Plan and Profile No. 1018,
to which said Plan and Profile reference is hereby made for
a more particular description of the work.
The above described Sanitary Sewers shall be con-
structed in accordance with Specifications No. 9 for the
construction of Sanitary Sewers with Vitrified Pipe in the
City of Huntington Beach and on file in the office of the
City Clerk of said City; and shall also be constructed in
accordance with the above described Plans and Profiles Nos.

Plans all of which are on file in the office of the City

Engineer of said City: Manholes in accordance with Plan
No. 200, Junction Chambers Plan No. 202, Flush-tanks Plan
No. 205, Cast-iron Frames and Covers Plan No . 207, and
Chimneys Plan No. 208. Reference is hereby made to said
Plans, Profiles and Specifications for a more particular
description of said work.
SECTION 2. That the contemplated work or improve-
ment is, in the opinion of the Board of Trustees of more
than local or ordinary public benefit, and said Board of
Trustees hereby declares that the district in the City of
Huntington Beach to be benefitted by said work or improve-
ment end to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses there-
of, is described as follows: All that portion of the City
of Huntington Beach included within the following boundary
lines, to-wit:
Commencing at the intersection of the production
of the southwesterly boundary line of the Alley lying north-
easterly from Ocean Avenue, in said City, with the center
line of Fifteenth Street ; thence in a northeasterly direction
along said center line of Fifteenth Street to the intersection
of the production of the northeasterly boundary line of Palm
Avenue with the said center line of Fifteenth Street; thence
in a northwesterly direction along said northeasterly boundary
line of Palm Avenue and the production thereof to an inter-
section with the center line of Twenty-third Street; thence
in a southwesterly direction along said center line of

Twenty-third Street to the intersection of said center line
of Twenty-third Street with the southwesterly boundary line
of the Alley lying northeasterly from Ocean Avenue produced
northwesterly; thence in a southeasterly direction along
said southwesterly boundary line of said Alley lying north-
easterly from Ocean Avenue and the production of said boundary
line to the point of beginning; excepting therefrom any por-
tion of any street or alley which in included within the
above described district. This description is general only
and reference is hereby made to Map No. 1010 as approved by
the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach on the,
25th day of October, 1920, and on file. in the office of the
City Engineer of said City, for a more complete and detailed
description of said district.
SECTION 3. The City Engineer is directed to make
a diagram of the property affected or benefitted by the pro-
posed Work or improvement as described in this Resolution
and to be assessed to pay the expenses thereof. Such diagram
shall show each separate lot, pieces or parcels of land, and
the relative location of the same to the work proposed to be
done, all within the limits of the assessment district.
SECTION 4. That the Board of Trustees determines
that serial bonds shall be issued to represent assessments of
Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) or over for the cost of said work
or improvement; said serial bonds shall extend over a period
ending nine (9) years from'and after the second day of January,

next succeeding the date of said bonds, and an even annual
proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable, by
coupon, on the second day of January every year after their
date until the whole is paid; and interest shall be paid semi—
annually, by coupon, on the second days of January and July,
respectively, of each year, at the rate of seven per cent
( 711o) per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said
principal and interest are paid. Said bonds shall be issued
in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Legislature
of the State of California., entitled "An Act to Provide a.
System of Street Improvement Bonds to Represent Certain Assess—
ments For the Cost of Street Work and Improvement Within
Municipalities, and Also For the Payment of Said Bonds" , approved
February 27, 1893, and of all acts supplementary thereto or
amendatory thereof.
SECTION 5. That the Street Superintendent shall post
notice of this work as required by law, and shall cause ss,id
notice to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach
News, and he shall also cause said notice to be posted for six
days on or near the entrance to the City Hall.
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall give notice
of this work by mailing postcards, as required by law, and he
shall also certify to the passs.ge of this Resolution and shall
cause the same to be published by two insertions in the Hunt—
ington Beach News; and he shall also post and keep posted, a

printed copy of this Resolution for a period of two days on
or near the entrance to the City Hall.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Trustees of the
City of Huntington Beach and signed by the President thereof
this 25th day of October, 1920.
