RESOLUTION
NO. 394
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, ORDER-
ING THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN SkNITARY SEW-
ERS IN THE DISTRICT BOUNDED BY FIFTEENTH
STREET AND TWENTY-THIRD STREET, AND THE ALLEY
LYING NORTHEASTERLY FROM OCEAN AVENUE, AND
PALM AVENUE, AND DETERMINING THAT BONDS SHALL
BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF AND
DECLARING THE WORK OR IMPROVEMENT TO BE OF
MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT
AND THAT THE EXPENSE OF SAID WORK OR IMPROVE-
MENT SHALL BE ASSESSED UPON A DISTRICT.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the City
of Huntington Beach, California:
SECTION I . That the construction of the sewers here-
in described is required by the public interest and convenience,
and the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach, Calif-
ornia, hereby orders the following work to be done in the said
City, as follows:
1. That a Sanitary Sewer to be known as Lateral No.
15, with the necessary man-holes, flush-tank, cast-iron frames
and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed in the
Alley between Fifteenth Street and Sixteenth Street, in said
City, from a connection with the Sanitary Sewer now constructed
in the alley lying northeasterly from Ocean Avenue, in a north-
easterly direction, on a line four and one-half feet southeast-
erly from and parallel to the northwesterly boundary line of
said Alley between Fifteenth Street and Sixteenth Street and
the extension of said boundary line across intersecting streets,
to the center line of Palm Avenue, as shown on Plan and Profile
No. 1011, to which said Plan and Profile reference , is hereby
made for a more particular description of the work.
2. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral No.
16, with the necessary man-holes, flush-rank, cast-iron frames
and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed in the
Alley between Sixteenth Street and Seventeenth Street in said
City from a connection with the Sanitary Sewer now constructed
in the Alley lying northeasterly from Ocean Avenue, in a north-
easterly direction, on a line four and one half feet southeast-
erly from and parallel to the northwesterly boundary line of
said Alley between Sixteenth Street and Seventeenth Street
and extension of said boundary line across intersecting streets,
to the center line of Palm Avenue, as shown on Plan and Profile
No. 1012, to which said Plan and Profile reference is hereby
made for a more particular description of the work.
3. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral No.
17, with the necessary manholes, flush-tanks, cast-iron frames
and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed along
the following described lines, to-wit:
Commencing at a certain Junction Chamber in the Sani-
tary Sewer now constructed in the Alley lying northeasterly
from Ocean Avenue, said Junction, Chamber being four and one
half feet southeasterly from the northwesterly boundary line

of the Alley between Seventeenth Street and Eighteenth Street
in said City produced southwesterly, thence in a northeasterly
direction, on a line four and one half feet southeasterly from
and parallel to the northwesterly boundary line of said Alley
between Seventeenth Street and Eighteenth Street and the ex-
tension of said boundary line across intersecting streets to
a point twenty and one half feet southwesterly from the south-
westerly boundary line of Orange Avenue: Also, commencing at
a Junction Chamber to be constructed at the intersection of
the center line of Magnolia Avenue with Lateral No. 19, here-
inafter described; thence in a southeasterly direction along
said center line of said Magnolia Avenue to a point four and
one half feet southeasterly from the northwesterly boundary
line of the Alley between Seventeenth Street and Eighteenth
Street, in said City, produced northwesterly; thence in a
northeasterly direction, on a line four and one half feet
southeaster) from and parallel to the northwesterly boundary

line of said Alley between Seventeenth Street and Eighteenth
Street and the extension of said boundary line across inter-
secting Streets to the center line of Palm-Avenue; all as
shown on Plan and Profile No . 1013, to which said Plan and
Profile reference is hereby made for a more particular des-
cription of the work.
4. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
No. 19, with the necessary manholes, flush-tank, cast-iron
frames and covers, chimneys, " F' junctions and junction

chamber be constructed in the Alley between Eighteenth Street
and Nineteenth Street, in said City, from a connection with
the Sanitary Sewer now constructed in the Alley lying north-
easterly from Ocean Avenue, in a northeasterly direction, on
a line four and one-half feet southeasterly from and parallel
to the northwesterly boundary line of said alley between Eight-
eenth Street and Nineteenth Street and extension cf said bound-
ary line across intersecting streets to the center of Palm
Avenue , as shown on Plan and Profile No. 1014, to which said
Plan and Profile reference is hereby made for a more particular
description of the work. _
5. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
No. 19, with the necessary manholes, flush-tank, cast-iron
frames and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed
in the Alley between Nineteenth Street and Twentieth Street,
in said City, from a connection with the Sanitary Sewer now
constructed in the alley lying northeasterly from Ocean Avenue,
in a northeasterly direction on a line four and one half feet
southeasterly from and parallel to the northwesterly boundary
line of said Alley between Nineteenth Street and Twentieth
Street and the a xtention of said boundary line across inter-
secting streets to the center line of Palm Avenue, as shown
on Plan and Profile No. 1015 , to which said Plan and Profile
reference is hereby made for a more particular description of
the work.
6. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
to. 20, with the necessary manholes, flush-tank, cast-iron

frames and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed
in the Alley between Twentieth Street and Twenty-first Street,
in said City, from a connection with the Sanitary Sewer now
constructed in the Alley lying northeasterly from Ocean Avenue,
in a northeasterly direction, on a line four and one-half feet
southeasterly from and parallel to the northwesterly boundary
line of said Alley between Twentieth Street and Twenty-first
Street and the extension of said boundary line across inter-
setting streets to the center line of Palm Avenue, as shown
on Plan and Profile No. 1016, to which said Plan and Profile
reference is hereby made for a more particular description
of the work.
7. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral
No. 21, with the necessary manholes, flush-tank, cast-iron
frames and covers, chimneys and "Y" junctions be constructed
in the Alley between Twenty-first Street and Twenty-second
Street in said City, from a connection with the Sanitary
Sewer now constructed in the Alley lying northeasterly from
Ocean Avenue, in a northeasterly direction, on a line four
and one half feet southeasterly from and parallel to the north-
westerly boundary line of said Alley between Twenty-first Street
and Twenty-second Street and the extension of said boundary
line across intersecting streets to the center line of Palm
Avenue, as shown on Plan and Profile No. 1017, to which said
Plan and Profile reference is hereby made for a more particular
description of the work.
8. That a Sanitary Sewer, to be known as Lateral No.
22 with the necessary manholes, flush-tanks, cast-iron frames

and covers, chimneys and BY" junctions be constructed in the
Alley between Twenty-second Street and Twenty-third Street, y
in said City, from a connection with the Sanitary Sewer now
constructed in a portion of the Southwesterly end of said
Alley in a northeasterly direction, on a line four and one-
half feet southeasterly from and parallel to the northwest-
erly boundary line of said Alley between Twenty-second Street
and Twenty-third Street and the extension of said boundary
line across intersecting streets to the center line of Palm
Avenue, as shown on Plan and Profile No. 1019, to which said
Plan and Profile reference is hereby made for a more particu-
lar description of the work.
The above described sanitary sewers shall be con-
structed in accordance with Specifications No. 9 for the
construction of Sanitary Sewers with Vitrified Pipe in the
City of Huntington Beach and on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said City; and shall also be constructed in accord-
ance with the above described Plans and 'Profiles Nos. 1011-
1012-1013-1014-1015-1016-lol7-1018- and the following Plans
all of which are on file in the office of the City Engineer of
said City; Manholes in accordance with Plan No . 200, Junction
Chambers Plan No . 2021, Flush-Tanks Plan No. 205, Cast-Iron
Frames and C9vers Plan No. 207, and Chimneys Plan No. 209.
Reference is hereby made to said Plans, Profiles and Specifi-
cations for a more Darticular description of said work.

SECTION 2. That the said contemplated work or im-
provement is, in the opinion ofthe Board of Trustees of more
than local or ordinary public benefit, and said Board of
Trustees hereby declares that the district in the City of
Huntington Beach to be benefitted by said work or improvement
and to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof, is
described as follows: All that portion of the City of Hunt-
ington Beach included within the following boundary lines,
to-wit: Commencing at the intersection of the production of
the southwesterly boundary line of the Alley lying northeast-
erly from Ocean Avenue, in said City, with the center line
of Fifteenth Street; thence in a northeasterly direction
along said center line of Fifteenth Street to the intersection
of the production of the northeasterly boundary line of Palm
Avenue with said center line of Fifteenth Street; thence in
a northwesterly direction along said northeasterly boundary
line of Palm Avenue and the production thereof to an inter-
section with the center line of Twenty-third Street; thence
in a southwesterly direction along said center line of Twenty-
third Street to the intersection of said center line of Twenty-
third Street with the Southwesterly boundary line of the Alley
lying northeasterly from Ocean Avenue produced northwesterly;
thence in a southeasterly direction along said southwesterly
boundary line of said Alley lying northeasterly from Ocean
Avenue and the production of said boundary line to the point

of beginning; excepting- therefrom any portion of any street
or alley which is included within the above described district.
This description -is general only and reference is hereby made
to Map No. 1010 as approved by the Board of Trustees of the
City of Huntington Beach on the 25th day of October, 1920, and
on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City, for a
more complete and detailed description of said district.
SECTION 3. The City Engineer is directed to make-a
diagram of the property affected or benefitted by the proposed
work or improvement as described in this Resolution and to be
assessed to pay the expenses thereof. Such diagram shall
show each separate lot, piece or parcel of land, the area in
square feet of said lots, pieces or parcels of land, and the
relative location of the same to the work proposed to be done,
all within the limits of the assessment district.
SECTION 4. That the Board of Trustees determines
that serial bonds shall be issued to represent assessments of
Twenty-five ( $25.00) or over for the cost of said work or
improvement; said serial bonds shall extend over a period
ending nine (9) years from and after the second day of Janu-
ary, next succeeding the date of said bonds, and an even an-
nual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable,
by coupon, on the second day of January every year after their
date until the whole is paid; and interest shall be paid semi-
annually, by coupon, on the second days of January and July,
respectively, of each year, at the rate of seven (7) per cent

per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal
and interest are paid, said bonds shall be issued in accord-
ance with the provisions of an act of the Legislature of the
State of California, entitled "an Act to provide a system of
Street Improvement Bonds to represent certain assessments for
the cost of Street Rork and Improvement within Municipalities,
and also for the payment of said Bonds" approved February 27,
1893, and of all acts supplementary thereto or amendatory
thereof.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk is hereby directed to
post and keep posted for a period of five days, on or near the
entrance to the City Hall, a notice, with Specifications, in-
viting sealed proposals or bids for doing said work, and be
shall also publish a notice of said work inviting sealed pro-
posals or bids for doing said work, and referring to the
Specifications posted or on file, by two insertions in the
Huntington Beach News. Said notice shall require a certified
check or bond, either, as prescribed by law, and for an amount
not less than ten per cent of the aggregate of the proposal.
SECTICK 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be pub-
lished .by two insertions in the Huntington Beach News, and he
shall also post and keep posted, a printed copy of this Resolu-
tion, for a period of two days, on or near the entrance to the
City Hall.

City of Huntington Beach, California, and signed by the. Presi-
dent thereof this 6th day of December, 1920.
