A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AWARD-
ING THE CONTRACT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF SEC-
OND STREET, THIRD STREET, A PORTION OF LAKE
AVENUE AND THE ALLEYS IN BLOCKS 104-2o4 and
203, HUNTINGTON BEACH TRACT.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the City
of Huntington Beach, California:
SECTION I. That said Board of Trustees having, in
open session, on the 26th day of September, 1921, opened,
examined and publicly declared all sealed proposals or bids
offered for the grading and oiling and construction of curbs
on Second- Street; the grading and paving, construction of
curbs and walks and culverts and the installing of an orna-
mental lighting system on Third Street; the grading and pav-
ing of a portion of Lake Avenue between Magnolia Avenue and
the northerly line of Block 301A Huntington Beach; and the
grading and paving, and construction of curbs at intersections
of the Alleys in Blocks 104--204 and 203, Huntington Beach
Tract, all in accordance with the Plans, Profiles and Drawings
for said work on file in the office of the City Engineer of
the City of Huntington Beach and with the Specifications on
file in the office of the City Clerk of said City; hereby re-
jects all of said bids, except that next mentioned, and hereby
awards the contract for said work to the lowest regular respon-
sible bidder, to-wit: to STEELE FINLEY at the prices specified
in his proposal on file for said work, namely: for grading
and surface oiling of Second Street, twelve cents (120) per
square foot of surface, and sixty-five cents (650) per lineal
foot of Cement Curb in Second Street; in Third Street, twenty-
nine and one-half cents (29 0) per square foot of surface for
grading and waving with Willite Pavement; sixty-five cents
(650) per lineal foot for Cement Curb, twenty-four cents ( 240)
per square foot for cement walk, two dollars and twenty-nine
cents ($2.29) per lineal foot for corrugated culvert, and six
thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars ( 6750.00) for the
Ornamental Lighting System complete; on Lake Avenue, thirty
cents (30¢) .per square foot for grading and paving with Will-
ite pavement; on the Alleys in Blocks 104, 204 and 203, thirty-
one cents (310) per square foot for grading and paving with
Willite Pavement and sixty-five cents (650) per lineal foot
for cement curbs and returns.
SECTION 2. That serial bonds, bearing interest at
thexate of seven ( 7%) per cent per annum, and extending over
a period of ten years from their date, shall be issued to rep-
resent the cost and expense of said work and in the manner and
form provided by law.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this Resolution and shall -cost notice of this award
conspicuously, for a period of five days, on or near the en-
trance of the City Hall and shall also cause said notice to be

published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News.
PASSED and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the
City of Huntington Beach, California, and signed by the Presi-
dent thereof, this 3rd day of October 1921.
