HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 373 RESOLUTION NO. 373 WHEREAS, at a special municipal election held in the City of Huntington Beach, Orange County, California, on Friday, the 24th day of February, 1922, pursuant to the pro- visions of Ordinance No. 232 of said City, the whole number of voters voting at said election was 520 and the whole number of legal votes cast was 518, and WHEREAS, 433 legal votes were cast in favor of and for the adoption of the following proposition, to-wit: Shall the City of Huntington Beach, California, incur a bonded debt in the sum of $60,000.00 for the object and purpose of the acquisition, construction, and completion of a building for municipal uses, to-wit: A building to be used as and for a City Hall and Jail, and other municipal purposes, including all furniture and fixtures necessary to and convenient for the use thereof, and WHEREAS, 458 legal votes were cast in favor of and for the adoption of the following proposition: Shall the City of Huntington Beach, California, incur a bonded debt in the sum .of $10,000.00 for the object and purpose of the acqui- sition of fire apparatus and equipment for the prevention of fires within the City of Huntington Beach, and WHEREAS, 374 legal votes were cast in favor of and for the adoption of the following proposition: Shall the City of Huntington Beach, California, incur a bonded debt in the sum of $25,000.00 for the object and purpose of the acquisi- tion, construction, and completion of a public assembly and convention hall, including all furniture and fixtures neces- sary and convenient for the use thereof, and WHEREAS, due notice of said Special Municipal Elec- tion was given, and said special election was held at the time and in the manner in all respects as required by said Ordinance No. 232 of said City, and that in all particulars not re- cited in said Ordinance, said Special Municipal Election was held as provided by law for holding municipal elections in Cities of the sixth class, and WHEREAS, said election was legally and fairly con- ducted and the returns thereof were duly and regularly made and certified to by this Board; that said returns have been duly and legally canvassed by this Board, and WHEREAS, said propositions submitted to the quali- fied voters of said City of Huntington Beach at said Special Municipal Election were and each of them was carried by the votes of more than two-thirds of all the voters voting at said Special Municipal Election. NOW THEREFORE, be it r esolved by the Board o f Trust- ees of the City of Huntington Beach, that the said propositions were and this Board hereby finds and declares that said propo- sitions were and each of them was carried and adopted by the votes of more than two-thirds of all the voters voting at said 2, Special Municipal Election, and that the said propositions be and the same a,re -hereby declared to be carried, and WHEREAS, in said election, the number of legal votes cast in favor of and for the adoption of the following propo- sition, to-wit: Shall the City of Huntington Beach, California, incur a bonded debt in the sum of $20,000.00 for the object and purpose of the acquisition, construction,, and completion of a municipal improvement, to-wit: A wharf extending into the Pacific Ocean at the foot of Main Street in said City of Hunt- ington Beach, was 343. NOW THEREFORE, be it further resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach that said proposi- tion failed and this Board hereby finds and declares that said proposition failed to be carried and adopted by two-thirds of the voters voting at said Municipal Election and that said proposition be and the same is hereby declared to have failed to have carried by the votes of two-thirds ( 2/3) of all the voters voting at said Special Municipal Election.
