NO. 422
ORDERING THE WORK.
RESOLVED, that whereas the Board of Trustees of
the City of Huntington Beach, California, did on the 21st
day of January, 1924, pass its Resolution of Intention No.
414 to order the hereinafter described work to be done and
improvement to be made in said City which Resolution of
Intention was duly and legally published as required by
law, as appears from the affidavit of Elson G Conrad now
on file in the office of the City Clark of said City and
whereas, notices of the passage of said Resolution of In-
tention No. 414 headed "Notice of Improvement" was duly and
legally posted along the line of said contemplated work and
improvement and in front of all the property liable to be
assessed therefor, and on and along all the Open streets
and alleys within the assessment district described in said
Resolution of Intention, in time, form,, manner and number as
required by law, after the passage of said Resolution of
Intention, as appears from the affidavit of Louis F Gates
the Street Superintendent of said City, who personally
posted same, and who, upon the completion of the posting of
said notices, filed said affidavit in the office of the
City Clerk, making oath that he completed the posting of
said notices on the 6th day of February, 1924, and whereas,
all protests or objections presented have been disposed of
in time, form and manner as required by law, and said Board
of Trustees having now acquired jurisdiction to order the
proposed improvement, it is hereby
RESOLVED that the public interest and convenience
require the work herein described and the Board of Trustees
of the City of Huntington Beach hereby orders the following
work to be done and improvement made in said City, To-wit:
lst. The grading to the official grade therof
of Tenth (10th) Street in said City for the entire width
of the roadway, from curb line to curb line together with
the intersections of intersecting streets and alleys between
the curb lines of said streets and alleys and from property
line to property line of said Tenth Street except where such
improvements have already been made, from the Northeasterly
line of Ocean Avenue to a line parallel to and two (2)
feet Northeasterly from the Southeasterly curb line of
Palm Avenue.
2nd. The paving of the roadway of said Tenth
Street in said City, From curb line to curb line, . }ogether
with the intersections off intersecting streets and alleys
between the curb lines of said intersecting streets and alleys
from property line to property line of said Tenth Street,
except where such improvements have already been made,
from the Northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue to a line par-
allel to and two (2) feet Northeasterly from the Southwesterly

line of said Palm Avenue with a pavement consisting of a
two (2) inch Willite Composition wearing surface laid upon
a three t3) inch asphaltic concrete base.
3rd. The construction of the following corru-
gated galvanized iron half"round ten (10) gauge- culverts
on a two (2) inch thick cement concrete base; said culverts
to be fifteen (15) inches wide at the base with a five (5)
inch rise. One culvert as above described shall be construct-
ed and placed with the inner edge of said culvert contiguously
and adjacent to the curb line produced on the Southwesterly
side of Olive Avenue from property line to property line
of Tenth Street and across said Tenth Street with feeders
on the Southerly and Westerly corners of the intersection
of said Tenth Street and Olive Avenue, as shown on the plan
hereinafter mentioned; also a culvert as above described
crossing the Northerly corner of said Olive Avenue and Tenth
Street from the point of intersection of the Northeasterly
property line of said Olive Avenue produced with the North-
westerly curb line of said Tenth Street to the point of
Intersection of the Northwesterly property line of said
Tenth Street produced with the Northeasterly curb line of
said Olive Avenue; also two (2) culverts as above described
with the inner edge placed contiguously and adjacent to the
Northeasterly and Southwesterly curb line of Orange Avenue
produced from the property line of said Tenth Street, each
one crossing said Tenth Street with feeders on all four

corners of the intersection of the said Tenth Street and
said Orange Avenue as shown on the plan, profile and cross-
section hereinafter mentioned, also a culert as above
described shall be placed with its inner edge contiguously
and adjacent to the Southwesterly curb line of Palm Avenue
produced from property line to property line of said Tenth
Street and crossing said Tenth Street with feeders on the
Southeasterly and Westerly corners of the intersection of
the said Tenth Street and Palm Avenue as shown on the plan,
profile, and cross-section hereinafter mentioned. Cement
concrete headwalls shall be constructed at the ends of above
described culverts and feeders and where required at the
ends of culverts already in place wherever shown on the
plan.
4th. The oonstruction of an ornamental lighting
system consisting of twenty three (23) lights, standards
and lights, twelve of which shall be located on the South-
westerly side of said Tenth Street and eleven (11) on the
Northeasterly side of said Tenth Street, spaced approximately
two hundred and thirty one (231) feet apart as is more
particularly shown on the plan, profile and cross-section
hereinafter mentioned. Said lighting system shall be fully
equipped with a single light, standards and lights, and
connected with three-quarter (3/4) inch galvanized electric
conduit placed under ground ad,jacant to the curb line. They
shall be of a single circuit and said circuit shall terminate

on the pole of the Southern California Edison Electric
Company which is situated twenty (20) feet Southeasterly
from the curb line of said Tenth Street on the Northeasterly
Bide of the alley running at right angles to said Tenth
Street in Block 109, Huntington Beach Tract, as shown on
map recorded in Book three (3) page forty six (46) Miscel-
laneous maps Record of Orange County, California, which will
be the feed-in point for said circuit.
The grade to which all of the above described
work shall be done and improvement made shall be the grade
as shown on the plan, profile and cross-section therefor
heretofore adopted by the Board of Trudtees of said City of
Huntington Beach and now on file in the office of ' the City
Engineer to which said plan, profile and cross-section
reference is hereby made.
All of the foregoing work is fully set forth,
delineated and described, on the said plan, .prof ile and
cross-section and specifications therefor, to which refer-
ence is hereby made for a full, complete, particular and
detailed description of the work.
Section 2. PLAN,PROFILE, CROSS-SECTION AND SPECI-
FICATIONS. All of said work and improvement whall be done
as shown upon and according to the plan, profile, and cross-
section therefor numbered New Series Eleven (11) in four (4)
sheets, and according to the specifications numbered 31
for the construction of asphaltic concrete base and Willite

Plastic Composition wearing surface pavement, headers,
culverts, head-walls and grading roadways, and specification
numbered 32 fornthe constuction of conduits, ornamental
lighting standards and lights on file in the office of the
City Clerk of said City, which said plan, profile, cross-
section and specifications have been approved and adopted
as the plan, profile, cross-section and specifications to be
followed in making said improvement, and by reference there-
to the same are incorporated herein and made a part hereof,
and reference is hereby made thereto, for a full, complete
and more particular description of said work.
The City Clerk of said City, is hereby directed
to post a notice of said work, together with the plans and
specifications therefor, conspicuously for five (5) days
on or,: near the council chamber door of said City, inviting
sealed proposals or bids for doing the work ordered. He
is also directed to publish twice (2) a notice inviting
such proposals, and referring to the specifications posted
or on file, in the Huntington Beach News a weekly newspaper
published and circulated in said City and hereby designated
for that purpose,
All proposals or bide shall be accompanied by a
check payable to the City of Huntington Beach certified
by a responsible bank for an amount which shall not be
less than ten (10/lAo) percent of the aggregate of the pro-
posal, or by a bond fornthe said amount and so payable,

signed by the bidder and two (2) sureties, who shall jus-
tify before any officer competent to administer an oafish,
in double the said amount, and over and above all statu-
tory exemptions.
Said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered
to the Clerk of the Board of Trustees of said City on or
before 7:30 o' clock P.M. of the 17th duty of March, 1924,
said time being nod less than ten (10) days from the time
of the first publication and posting of this notice. Bids
will be opened on said day and hour.

T hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Board
of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular
adjourned meeting thereof held on the 18th day of February,
19242 by the following vote;
