The Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington
Beach, California, do resolve as follows
That the public interest and convenience requires
and it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of the
said City of Huntington Beach, California, to order the
construction of the following described work and improve-
ment in said City, to-wit:
1. The grading to the official grade thereof of
said Walnut Avenue in said City for the entire width of the
said Walnut Avenue, from property to property line, together
with the intersections of intersecting streets and alleys
bete een property lines of said Streets and alleys and from
property line to property line of said '''a.lnit Avenue, from
a line two (2) feet Southerly from and parallel to the
Northwesterly curb line of First Stre:=t to the Soutbens-
terly property line of Twenty Third Street excepting there-
from any of s:^id work already done to the official grade.
The words "Officia.l grade" as used herein shall be deemed
to refer to and mean the grades shun on plans, profiles
and cross-sections adopted for the doing of said work_.
2. The paving of the roadway of said V!a.lnut Aven-
ue in s—PAd City from curb line to curb line together 1rrith
the intersections of intersecting streets and alleys be-
tween curb lines of said Intersecting streets and alleys
and from property line to property line of said Walnut
Avenue from a line two (2) feet Southerly from and parallel
to the Northwesterly curb line of First Street to the South-
eRsterly -property line of Twenty third Street with a pave-
ment consisting of a one ;nd cane-half (16) inch asphaltic
concrete (Topeka) wearing surface laid upon a three and
one-half (3- ) inch asphaltic concrete �)a.se excepting there-
from the intersections of sn id lValn7,4%. _Avenue with f rd Street,
Main Street, 5th Street, 6th Street, 2th Street, 9th Street,
loth Street, llth Street, 13th Street, loth Street, 15th
Street, 16th Street and 17th Street and any of said work
already dune, to the official grade.
3. The construction of the following corrugated
galvanized iron half-round ten (10) Cauge culverts on a two

inch thick cement concrete base, said culverts to be fifteen
(15) inches wide at the base with a five. (5) inch rise,
One culvert as above described shall be constructed and
placed in said roadway with one edge of said culvert con-
tiguously and adjacent to the Northwesterly curb line of
First Street produced across ?Walnut Avenue on the North-
westerly side of said First Street at the intersection of
said First Street and said Walnut Avenue with feeders to
said culvert on the Northerly and '.'esterly corners of said
intersection; a,lJo two (2) culverts as above described one
of which shall be constructed and placed in said roadway

the curb line produced of Second Street on each side of said
Second Street at the intersection of Second Street and said
Walnut Aven°ae and crossing said Walnut Avenue with feeders
to the same on the Northerly and Westerly corners of said
intersection as shown on the plan, Two (2) culverts as
above described one of which shall be constructed and -ola.ced
in said roadway with one edge of said culvert contiguously
and adjacent to the curb line of 7th Street in said City
produced on each side of said 7th Street at the intersection
of said 7th Street and said "Talnut Avenue and crossing said
',Walnut Avenue with feeders to the same on the Northerly and
"'esterly corners of said intersection as shown on the elan.
Two (2) culverts as above described one of which shall be
constructed and placed in said roadway with one edge of

said culvert contiguously and adjacent to the curb line of
said Walnut Avenue produced on each side of Walnut Avenue
at the intersection of said Walnut Avenue and 12th Street
and crossing said 12th Street an shown on the plans. Two
(2) culverts as Pbove described one of which shall be con-
structed and placed in said roadway with one edEe of said
culvert contiguously and adjacent to the curb line of 18th
Street produced on each side of 18th Street at the inter-
section of said 18th Street and Walnut Avenue and crossing
said Walnut Avenue as shown on the plan. Two (2) culverts
as sbcve described one of which shall be constructed and
placed In said roadway with one edge of said culvert contig-
uously and adjacent to the curb line of 10th Street pro-
duced on each side of 19th Street at the Intersection of
said 19th Street and Walnut Avenue and crossing said wal-
nut Avenue with feeders to the same on all four corners
of said intersection as shown on the plans. Two (2) cul-
verts as above described one of which shall be constructed
and placed in said roadway with one edge of said culvert
contiCuously and adjacent to the curb line of 20th Street
produced on each side of 20th Street at the intersection
of said 20th Street and said Walnut Avenue and crossing
said 7ainut Avenue with feeders to the same on the North-
erly and Testerly corners of eaid Intersection as shown
on the plan. Two (2) culverts as above described one of
which shall be constructed and placed in said roadway
with one edge of said culvert contiguously and adjacent to

the curb line of 21st Street produced on each side of 21st
Street at the intersection of said tilst Street and Walnut
Avenue and crossing said 17alnut Avenue with feeders to the
same on the Northerly and 74esterly corners of said Inter-
section as shown on the plan. Two (2) culverts as above
described one of which shall be constructed and placed
in said roadway with one edge of said culvert contiguously
and adjacent to the curb line of 22nd Street produced on
each side of 22nd. Street at the intersection of said 22nd
Street and 7a.1nut Avenue and crossing said Talnut Avenue
with feeders to the same on the Northv,esterly and South-
westerly corners of said intersection as shown on the
plan. Cement concrete headwalls shall be constructed and
placed at the ends of the above culverts and feeders and
at the ends of culverts now in place and at such other
locations where and as shown on the plans and detail sheets
for said headwalls.
4. The construction of cement concrete curbs,
sidewalks and curb returns as shoiatn upon the plans and de-
tail sheets for said curbs, sidewalks and curb returns on
both sides of said Ta.lnut Avenue and at the intersection
of said Walnut Avenue with intersecting streets and alleys
from property line to property line from a line tvo (2)
feet Southerly from and parallel to the Northwesterly
curb line of First Street to the Southeasterly property
line of I-Nirenty Third Street, excepting however from all of
the above described curbs, sidewalks and curb returns such.

portions of said work as may be already done to the nfficia.l
grade.
5. The construction of an orn^:mental lighting
system described as fcllovrs: Forty Four (44) ornamental
single light standards fully equipped with a single light;
twenty two (22) of said single light standards shall be lo-
eated on the Southwesterly side of said 'Valnut Avenue and
twenty two (22) of said lights on the Northeasterly side of
said Walnut Avenue; said lights shall be divided into two
(2) circuits, as follows; One circuit shall take in all
lights on both sides of said `7alnut Avenue East of the al-
ley running; Northeasterly and Southwesterly through Block
113 Huntington Beach Tract and Block 213 Huntington Beach
Tract. The other circuit shall take in all lights west of
said alley, the lights on the Southwesterly side of said
"ralnut Avenue shall be connected with three quarter (3/4)
inch galvanized electric conduit and placed under ground
adjacent to the curb lines. The lights on the Northeas-
terly side of said 17alnut Avenue shall be connected with
the lights ^n the South-westerly side by one (111) inch con-
cuit as shown on the lighting plan. Said lights shall be
spaced approximately Two hundred and forty one and six
tenths (241.6) feet apart. Both of said circuits shall
terminate at the ,Dole of the Southern California Edison
Electric Comnany which is situated one and a half (1'j) feet
Northwesterly from the Northwesterly property line of said
alley produced in Block 113 Huntington Beach Tract and two

and a half (21) feet Southwesterly from the Southwesterly
curb line of said Walnut Avenue which will be the feed-in
paint of said circuit. For a more particular description
of said light _ng system reference Is .hereby made to the
plan of said work herein mentioned.
The grade to which all of the above described
work shall be done and improvement made, shall be the grade
as shown on the plan, profile and cross-section therefor
adopted by the Hoard of Trustees of the City of Huntington
Beach, and now on file in the office of the City Engineer,
to which plan, profile and crass-section reference is here-
by made.
All the foregoing work is fully set forth, delin-
eated and described in the said elan, profile and cross-
section and specifications therefor to which reference is
hereby made for a complete, full, particular and detailed
description of the work.
SECTION 11
PLANS, PROFILES, CROSS-SECTIONS
and
SPECIFICATIONS
All of the said work and improvement shall be done
as shorn upon and according to the plan, profile and cross-
section therefor numbered New Series 15 in 5 sheets
and according to Specifications numbered 43 for grading
said roadway and the construction of AsPhe.ltic concrete base,_
asphaltic concrete (TopP'VP1 wearing surface pavement , headers,

culverts, headwalls, sides albs, curbs and curb returns and
specifications numbered 44 for the construction of con-
duits, ornamental lighting standards and lights, on file in
the office of the City Clerk of said Cite', all of rThich
plans, profiles, cross-sections and specifications have been
approved and adopted as the plans, profiles, cross-sections
and specifications to be followed in making said Imnrove-
ment and by reference thereto the same are incorporated here-
in and made a part hereof and reference is hereby made
thereto for a full, complete and more particular descrip-
tion of said work.
SECTION 111
The Board of Trustees also determine and declare
that Serial Bonds shall be issiied to rep-esent the espense
of and be secured by assessments which shall be made to pay
for the cost of said lrfork and improvement.
TH!�'R FORE: ;,Totice is hereby given that Serial Bonds
to represent unoaid assessments and bear interest at the
rate of Seven (7%) per cent per annum, will be issued here-
under in the manner provided by the Improvement Bond Act
of 1915, the last installment of which bonds shall mature
Nine (9) years from the second (2nd) day of July next sue
ceeding ten (10) months from their date.
SECTION 1V
1'V` RIPTION OF ASSES HEFT DISTRICT
The contemplated work and improvement hereinbe-

fore mentioned is, in the opinion of the saAd Board of
Trustees of more than local or ordinary public benefit
and the said Board of Trustees therefore makes the expense
of said nrork and improvement chargeable upon the district
hereinafter described, a.nd said Board of Trustees does
hereby declare said district to be the district benefitted
by said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay
the cost and expense thereof, which district is bounded
and described as follows, to-wit:
All of that real property situated in the City
of Huntington Beach, California, included within the fol-
lowing described exterior boundary lines, to-wit: Commen-
cing at the point of intersection of the center line of
Walnut Avenue with the center line of First Street in
said City, thence in a straight line to. the most South-
erly corner of Lot 21 in Block 201, Huntington Beach Tract,
thence in a straight line to the most Westerly corner of
said Lot 21, thence in a straight line to the most South-
erly corner of lot 26 in said Block 201, thence in a.
straight line to the most T"esterly corner of said lot 26,
thence in a straight line to the most Southerly corner
of Lot 15 in Block 202, in said Huntington Beach Tract,
thence along the Southwesterly boundary lines pro,jeeted
across streets and alleys of lots 15 and 16 in Blocks
202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, successive-
ly to the most Nesterly corner of lot 16 Block 210, thence
in a straight line to the most Southerly corner of Lot 15

thence in a straight line to the point of intersection of
the center line of said j'lalnut Avenue with the center line

to the most Southerly corner of lot 11 Block 111, thence
In a straight line to the most Westerly corner of Lot 12
Block 110, thence along the Southwesterly boundary lines
of lots 12 and 11 in Blocks 110, 109, 108 successively to
the most Southerly corner of lot 11 in Block 108; thence
in a straight line to the most 7,7esterly corner of lot 16
in Bloc'.: 107, Huntington Beach Tract, :. iscellaneous Toa ps,
Records of Orange County, thence along the Southrvesterly
boundary lines of Lot 16 and 15 in Blocks 107, .106, 105,
104, 103, 102 successively to the most Southerly corner
of Lot 15 in Block 102 in said Huntington Beach Tract,
thence in a straight line to the most `Testerly corner of
Lot 16 in Block 101, thence in a straight line to the most

Southerly corner of said lot 16, thence in a straight'-line
to the most «'esterly corner of lot 11 in said Block 101,
thence in a, stratight line to the most Southerly corner of
said lot 11, thence in a straight line to the point of
beginning excepting therefrom any portion of any street
or alley which is included within the above described
district.
The above description is general only, a plan,
ditgram or map of said district indicating by a boundary
line the extent of the territory included in the proposed
district is on file in the office of the City Engineer.
Reference is hereby made to the said rap or plat for fur-
Cher full and complete description of the said assessment
district. The said plat or map so on file shall govern
for all details as to the extent of the said assessment
district.
SECTION V
TIM'�E AND PLACE OF HEARING.
Notice is hereby liven that on TU7.STRAY the 2nd
day of September 1924, at 8:00 o' clock P. M. in the
Council Chr-.tuber of the Board of Trustees located in the
City Hall in the said City of Huntington Beach, any and
all persons having any objections to the proposed cork or
imperovement, or to the extent of the district to be assess-
ed, or both, or to the proposed grade or -proposed modifi-
cation of grade to which s,aeh -ork or improvement is to
be done or made or all of them may appear before the said

Board of Trustees and show cause why said proposed improve-
ment should not be carried out in accordance with this
Resolution.
SECTION V1
DIAGR,C,_, OF THE PROPERTY TO BE ASSFSSED
The City Engineer is hereby directed to make a
diagram of the property affected or benefitted by the pro-
nosed or improvement as described in this Resolution
of Intention and to be assessed to nay the expenses there-
of. Such diagram shall show each separate lot, piece or
parcel of land, the area in square feet of such lots,
pieces or parcels of land, and the relative location 'of
the same to the work proposed to be done, all within the
limits of the said assessment district.
SECTION V11
PUB LI C YVAYS
The Streets, avenues and. alleys referred to in
this Resolution of Intention are public ways in the said
City of Huntington Beach.
SECTION V111
I M P R 0 V E ;" E N T A C T
Except as hereinbefore otherwise provided for :the
issuance of said Serial Bonds all of the proceedings for
the aforesaid 'work and improvement shall be had and taken
under and in accordance with the provisions of those Acts
of the Legislature of the State of California, designated

as "The Improvement Act of 191111 , approved April 7th, 1911
and all Acts supplimentary thereto or amendatory thereof
and the said Serial Bonds shall be issued in accordance
with the Improvement Bond Act of 1915 approved June llth,
1915, and all Acts supplimentary thereto or amendatory
thereof.
SECTION 1X
PUBLICATION OF RESOLUTION OF INTENTION
There being no daily newspaper published and
circulated in said City, the Huntington Beach Nees, a
weekly newspaper published and circulated and of general
circ2zla.-ion in the City of Huntington Beach, is hereby
designated as the newspaper in which this Resolution of
Intention shall be published, and the City Clerk of said
City is hereby directed to cause this Resolution of In-
tention to be Dublished for two insertions in said news-
paper in the manner and form required by lair.
SECTION X
POSTING NOTICE OF TMPROVEMENT
The Street Superintendent of said City shall
after the adoption of this Resolution of Intention cause
to be conspicuously posted as required by law along the
line of said contemplated work or imperovement, and along
all the open streets in the manner and form required by
law of the passage of this Resolution of Intention.
The Board of Trustees does not deem it advisable
that the City Clerk riail copies of the Notice of Improve-

ment to owners or reputed owners, and he is not required
to mail sane.
Passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of
the City of Huntington Beach, California, and signed and
approved by the President of said Board of. Trustees at a
regular adjourned meeting thereof held on the 28 day of
July , 1924.
