HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 576 i RESOLUTION No. 576 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF HUNTI �'GTON BEACH FAVORING CENTRALIZATION OF HEADS OF ALL STATE DEPARTMENTS AT STATE CAPITAL. The Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach do resolve as follows : Whereas ; the people of the City of Sacramento did, upon the 5th day of April, 1913, authorize a bond issue of Seven Hundred Thousand ($700,000.00) flollars with which to purchase the two blocks Ninth and Tenth, L to N streets, in said City, and WHEREAS, said blocks were thereafter purchased and presented to the State of California upon which to erect additional buildings for the purpose of housing state depart- ments, and WHEREAS, up to this time the people of said city have remained passive upon the removal of state departments from said city to other cities of the state because of short- age of housing facilities, but WHEREAS, the state has now caused to be erected upon said lands deeded to the State two magnificent office buildings and no shortage of housing facilities is now apparent and WHEREAS, because of the deeding of the two said blocks of land to the state, the same has been removed from spa • the tax rolls of said City, and WHEREAS, it is the direct provision of the law that Sacramento shall be the State Capital, and WHER7AS, Senate Bills numbered from 778 to 780, inclusive, and from 798 to 801, inclusive, provide for the return to the State Capital of the departments, boards and bureaus., THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach go on record as heartily in favor of the passage of measures providing for centralization of head offices and burueaus of State Departments at State Capital of California, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Council use all honest endeavors to bring about the passage of such measures, and E IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of these reso- lutions be sent to every Assemblymen and State Senators re- presenting. tnis llistrict in the State Legislature of Calif- ornia, - with the request that such legislators aid in every honorable way the passage of such measures.
