HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 581 RESOLUTION No. 591 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DE- CLARING THE EXISTENCE OF AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE BY THE CITY CONTROLLER OF CERTAIN STREET EQUIPMENT. THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: RESOLVED: that an emergency has arisen and exists which endangers public peace health and safety, in this, that heavy traffic over the public streets and highways in the City of Huntington Beach, has broken and destroyed large sections of the public highwyas and paving, to such extent that unless repaired without delay great and unusual damage will result, traffic delayed and obstructed, and life andangered;and RESOLVED, that the equipment owned by the City of Huntington Beach is entirely inadequate to make the immediate necessary repairs and carry on efficiently the work of the Street Department of said city, and that delay by, advertising for bids for supplying said city with the necessary equipment would greatly extend the damage and cause irreperable damage to said public streets and Inighways, and RESOLVED, that the City Controller be, and he is hereby, authorized to immediately purchase such necessary equipment for the street Department, including Asphalt mixer, appurtenances and other necessary equipment and machinery, and two Ford Roadsters, all such equipment not to exceed in cost the total of $6000(,)00.
