HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 607 RESOLUTION NO. 607 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF HUNT- INGTON BEACH, STATE OF CALIF- ORNIA, DECLARING RESULT OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION. WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and 'conducted in the City of Huntington Beach, California, on Monday the 9th day of April, 1928, as required by law, and WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and legally given, that voting precincts were prop- erly established, that election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished, and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the gen- eral laws of the State of California governing elections in cities of the fifth and sixth classes, and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City met at the Council Chamber of the said Council on Monday the 16th day of April, 1928, to canvass the returns of said election and install the newly elected officers, as a result of which the Council finds that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for and. other matters required by law, to be as hereinafter stated, now therefore, • BE IT RESOLVED as follows: That said Municipal Election was held and conducted In the City of Huntington Beach, California, on Monday the 9th day of April, 1928, in time, form and manner as required by law: That there were four voting precincts established for the purpose ofholding said election, consisting of a consolidation of the regular election]precincts established for holding genaral State and County elections as follows: Consolidated Voting Precinct "A", comprising State and County precincts numbers 5 and 6; Consolidated Voting Precinct "B", comprising State and County precincts numbers 3 and 4; Consolidated Voting Precinct "C", comprising State and County precincts numbers 1 and 2; Consolidated Voting Precinct "D", comprising State and County precincts numbers 7 and 8. TOTAL BALLOTS CAST: 280 395 348 361 1384 RESOLVED THEREFORE: that at said General Municipal Election SAMUEL R BOWEN was elected to the office of Council- man of the City of Huntington Beach, California, for the full term of four years; That BAYARD BUTCHER was elected to the office of Councilman of the City of Huntington Beach, California, for the full term of four years; , That ELSON G CONRAD was elected to the office of City Councilman of said City for the full term of four years; That Charles R Furr was elected to the office of -3- City Clerk for the full term of four years; That Joseph Vavra was elected to the office of City Treasurer for the full term of four years; . That the Proposition submitted to the electors to adopt an Ordinance fixing the amount of compensation to be received by City Councilman at $50.00 per month in- stead of $25.00 per month and repealing all ordinances or partsoof Ordinances in conflict therewith was adopted. The Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council a statement of the result of the election, showing (1) The whole number of votes cast in said City; (2) The names of the persons voted for, and a statement of the proposition voted upon; (3) The office for which each person was voted for; (4) The number of votes given at each pre- cinct for each of such persons, and for and against said proposition; and (5) The number of votes given in said City to each bof such personsi and for and against said proposi- tion voted upon. The Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of such persons elected a certificate of election sign- ed by him and duly authenticeted; he sh :ll also impose the constitutional oath of office and have them subscribe there- to, whereupon they shall be inducted into the respective offices to which they have bewn elected. The Mayor shall sign the Ordinance adopted by the people of the City of Huntington Beach, State of California. -4- Chas. G.
