RESOLUTION
NO. 627
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City
of Huntington Beach, as follows:
That the General Municipal Election, heretofore
called to be held in said City of Huntington Beach, Calif-
ornia, on the 14th day of April, 1930, that there be submitted
to the qualified voters of said City, pursuant to an act of
the Legislature of the State of California, .entitled "An
Act to Provide for direct legislation by Cities and Towns,
including initiative and referendum", approved January 20
1912, as amended, the proposition of the adoption of an
ordinance of the City of Huntingon Beach, entitled and in
words and figures as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH A11ENDING ORDINANCE NO. 209 OF SAID
CITY ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, ESTAB`=
LISHING A BUSINESS AND RESIDENCE DISTRICT
IN SAID CITY AND PROHIBITING THE ESTAB-
LISHMENT OR MAINTENANCE OF CERTAIN BUSI-
NESSES AND INDUSTRIES IN SAID DISRTICTS. "
The people of the City of Huntington Beach do
ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Section One (1) of Ordinance
No. 209 as amended, entitled "An Ordinance of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, establishing a Business and
Residence District in said City, and prohibiting the estab-
lishment or maintenance of certain trusinesses and industries
in said districts" be and is hereby amended so as to read
.as follows:
Section 1. All that portion of the City of Hunt-
ington Beach within the following described boundaries is
hereby established and declared to be Business District
No, 1 of said City, to-wit:
Beginning at the point of intersection of
the center line of Eleventh Street with
the center line of Olive Avenue; running
thence southeasterly along the center line
of`Olive Avenue to the point of its inter
section with the center line of Sixth Street;
running thence northeasterly along the cen-
ter line of Sixth Street to the point of its
intersection with the center line of Acacia
Avenue; running thence southeasterly and
easterly along the said center line of `
Acacia Avenue to the point of its intersec-
tion with the center line of the first alley
easterly from Main Street projedted northerly;
running thence southerly and southwesterly
along said center line of said alley to the
point of its intersection with the center
line of Olive Avenue; running thence southeas-
terly along said center line of Olive Avenue
to the point of its intersection with the
center line of First Street; running thence
southwesterly along said center line of First
Street to a paint distant 600 feet northeasterly
From the southwesterly line of Ocean Avenue;
running thence southeasterly parallel to the
said southwesterly line of Ocean Avenue and
distant 600 feet northeasterly therefrom to
the point of intersection with the southeasterly
boundary line of the City of Huntington Beach;
running thence southerly and southwesterly and
northwesterly along said boundary line to the
point of its intersection with the center line
of Eleventh Street projected southwesterly;
running thence northeasterly to the point of
beginning,

It is provided however, that nothing herein con-
tained shall be construed to prohibit the continuance of
the carrying on or maintaining of any oil-well or derrick
or business which has heretofore been established and is
now actually , in existence; but this proviso ,shall not be
construed to permit the commencement or establishment of
any new oil well or derrick or business or occupation wit)

in said district which is prohibited by Section Two of this
Ordinance.
Section 2. The adoption of this Ordinance shall
not, .nor are its or any of its provisions intended to limit
City Council
or prohibit the Beavd-a€-Tpueteee of the City of Huntington
Beach from adopting such ordinances amendatory hereto, in
the exercise of Police Power for the preservation of pub-
lic peace, health, safety and welfare, or in emergencies,
or for public convenience, as the City Council may deem
necessary.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be
Published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News,
a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated in the
said City of Huntington Beach, and this Ordinance shall
take effect ten (10) days after canvass of the election
at which this Ordinance is submitted, if the same is adopted
by the requisite number of votes of the electors voting

at said election.
Passed and adopted by the people of the. City of
Huntington Beach at a General Municipal Election held on
the 14th day of April, 1930. 0
The foregoing Ordinance will be submitted the
people on the 14th day of April, 1930, for adoption under
the following proposition:
PROPOSITION NO. 1
Shall the Ordinance providing for the
changing the boundary line of business dis-
trict No. 1 of said City be amended as pro-
vided in Resolution No. 627 of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach be
adopted?
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach, California, at their regular ad-
journed meeting held on the 20th day of March, 1930, by the
following votes:
AYES, Councilmen Conrad, Mitchell Harris, & Bowen
NOES, Councilmen None
ABSENT, Councilman Butcher

do hereby certify that the above/and foregoing Resolution
No. 627 was regularly introduced and read to the City Coun-
cil of said City at a regular adjourned meeting of said
Council held on the 20th day of March, 1930, and was at
said mentioned meeting passed and adopted by the following
votes:

NOES, Councilmen None
