HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 635 i RESOLUTION NO. 635 Resolution canvassing special election held on September 23rd, 1930, submitting certain propositions to the electors of the City of Huntington Beach by a Resolu- tion by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, WHEREAS pursuant to Ordinance No. 338 entitled "Ordinance submitting proposition for adopting certain Or- dinances to the People of the City of Huntington Beach" a special election was held in said. City on the 23rd day of September, 1930, in accordance with the Provisions of a certain act of the Legislature of the State of California entitled "An Act to provide for direct legislation by cities and towns including initiative and referendum" approved Jan- uary 2nd, 1912, as amended, and `MEREAS the returns of said election, have pur- suant to lave in the premises, been returned to this Board for official canvassing, and WHEREAS at said election there were submitted four separate propositions as are more particularly hereinafter set forth, and THE EAS the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach have this 29th day of September, 1930, met for the pur- pose of canvassing the results of said election, and WHEREAS the official returns of said election have been publicly opened and declared, and `'HEREAA6 the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach has determined that each of the said propositions so submitted at said election have failed ' of adoption by the following vote in each of the consolidated precincts and in total as follows: PROPOSITION 1 (FINANCIAL STATEMENTS) T,'0 YES Consolidated Election Precinct A 216 180 Consolidated Election Precinct B 124 14€3 Consolidated Election Precinct C 161 ?5 Entire City 501 403 PROPOSITION 11 (BOND TO RESTORE PROPERTY) NO YES Consolidated Election Precinct A 213 180 Consolidated Election Precinct B 126 141 Consolidated Election Precinct C 163 69 Entire City 502 390 PROPOSITION 111 (DISPOSAL OF WASTE `CATER) NO YES Consolidated Election Precinct A 199 191 Consolidated Election Precinct B 12? -148 Consolidated Election Precinct G 162 ?6 Entire City 488 415 PROPOSITION 1V (ONLY STEEL DERRICKS IN CERTAIN PLACES) NO YES Consolidated Election Precinct A 219 1?2 Consolidated Election Precinct B 135 141 Consolidated Election Precinct C 1?4 62 Entire City 528 3?5 And, WHEREAS there were cast at said election the -2r i following votes, to-writ: total votes case in Consolidated Election Precinct A 39? Consolidated Election Precinct B 2?9 Consolidated Election Precinct C 240 'Making a total vote cast in the entire city of 916 And, "MEREAS the foregoing recital shows that votes cast NO are votes against the adoption of Proposition No. 1 as submitted at said election and- the votes cast as above as YES are votes in favor of the adoption of said Pro- position No. 1, and IIEREAS less than a majority of the votes cast on said Proposition No. 1 were in favor thereof THEREFORE, BE IT RTSOLVED that said Proposition No. 1 failed of adoption. And, WHEREAS the foregoing recital shows that votes cast NO are votes against the adoption of Proposition No. 11 as submitted at said election and the votes cast as above as YES are votes in favor of the adoption of said Proposition No. 11, and WHEREAS less than a majority of the votes cast on said Proposition No. 11 were in favor thereof THEREFOrREp BE IT RESOLVED that said Proposition No. 11 failed of adoption. And, WHEREAS the foregoing recital shows that votes cast NO are votes against the adoption of Proposition No. 111 as submitted at said election and the votes cast as above as YES are votes in favor of the adoption of said Pro- position No. 111, and -3- `.WHEREAS less than a majority of the votes cast on said Proposition No. 111 were in favor thereof THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said Proposition No. 111 failed of adoption. And, ',VHEREAS the foregoing recital shows that votes cast NO are votes against the adoption of Proposition No. 1V as submitted at said election and the votes cast above as YES are votes in favor of the adoption of Propo- sition No, 1V, and WHEREAS less than a majority of the votes cast on said Proposition No, 1V were in favor thereof THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said Proposition No. 1V failed of adoption.
