HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 643 RESOLUTION NO. 643 IHEREAS, God in His Infinite wisdom has taken from our midst our beloved friend and co-worker JOSEPH VAVR.A and WHEREAS, it is the wish of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Huntington Beach to express in some humble manner their deep sorrow and sympathy to the bereaved family: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Hall of the City of Huntington Beach be closed on Wednesday, the 6th day of May, 1931, and that no work be done on that day betweeh the hours of twelve o' clock noon and five o' clock p. m. , thereby giving all officials and employees of the City opportunity to extend their sympathy and consolation to the bereaved family, and to render respect and tribute to the memory of so good a man as our departed friend and City Treasurer, Joseph Vavra. He was a highly respected citizen, a just and upright man and a faithful and efficient officer and ser- vant of the people. His loss will be felt, not only by those of his immediate family, but by his host of friends and associates. His high ideals and many virtues will ever • remain deep in the memories of those who knew him. And yet, we know how much more deeply his loss Is Pelt by his immediate family. To them we can only say "May the Supreme Ruler of the Universe, in His infinite wisdom fortify you with resignation in this hour of sorrow, and comfprt you with the Divine assurance that the spirit of the departed, honored and loved one, is happy in his Father' s House. " BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Reso- lution be sent to the bereaved family and that the same be spread on the minutes of this Council. Dated this the 5th day of May, 1931.
